Sheeple and the 2nd Ammendment

Whether knives are covered by 2A is still under debate in many circles.

But, besides that, what is the discussion here other than the fact that many people today freak out at the slightest thing?

There a point to this story other than to rant? If so that's fine, otherwise it's going nowhere.

I will say that if I was using a legal knife in a legal manner and someone tried to take it from me I'd not be too happy about that. I'll also say that maybe using a knife out in public isn't the best way to win friends and influence people, even if legal

The term sheeple is goofy though. No offense.

If someone rushed at me and tried to take a knife out of my hand, they'd probably lose a finger.

But I'm pretty sure that's not the right response. =)

Your post has nothing to do with “sheeple”, the second amendment, or California becoming to P/C, (which it has) but it is a sad commentary on how paranoid our society has become, and how quickly people are to believe the worst. Perhaps next time it may behoove you to be a little more discreet in helping someone open one of those miserable sealed packages.

By the way, a couple of folks have questioned whether knives are covered by the Second Amendment.

That appears to be undecided in court, but many folks believe they are. So for now let's assume at least that they are, for the sake of discussion.

This isn't exactly what you asked, but close.

I was getting out of the back of a van one sunday when a bunch of my family got together for lunch. Well, my suit jacket got twisted and stuck on my holster, which I didn't realize, and my gun was showing proudly.
To my surprise, my aunt (who I thought would def be a "sheeple") said something along the lines of "cool, I just got my CC permit too". Sometimes people you expect to be sheeple, can surprise you.

Never had someone try to grab a knife out of my hand, but I'm sure if someone grabbed me I wouldn't let me stand there trying to take my knife away.
I have gotten some rather odd looks when flicking out a knife for a legitimate purpose. College kids are some of the worst. Even had one girl go in to a rant about how I must feel cool because I carry a knife.

Oh well, some people just over react about everything.

Albeit descriptive. Of course, goofy is a pretty descriptive term for many antis.

Several years ago I purchased an Xbox or Playstation for my kid at Wally World. The lady at the electronics station was trying to pop open a little tab to retrieve the S/N. I finally asked if I could help and she responded, "please do." I pulled my Benchmade (auto) and opened it (by my leg so she wouldn't see) and popped the little tab. She took a step back, put her hands up and shuddered.

I guess if I had opened my jacket she would have fainted dead away.

A guy even rushed over and tried to grab it out of my hand, while yelling "put it down, put it down!"

For real? Wow what the ...

that is absolutely ridiculous. People actually freaked out when you took out a knife, to open something? And a pocket knife at that? And a guy rushed you? remind me never to go to California again. People are retarded. This crazy cancer has to be stopped.

One of my co-workers had to work out of San Diego some years ago in order to do some work on a ships boiler.

On his day off he went to a coffee shop and sat down to enjoy a cup and his copy of American Handgunner. The guy at the next table gasped and said "You have no right to read something like that", and then tried to grab the magazine out of his hand. Bad move--an instant later the guy was in an arm bar doing a faceplant. My buddy tweaked his arm a little and then left before the cops got there. The guy was still on the floor crying when he left!!

He and I both agreed he was lucky not to get arrested--since he was in California!

No offense, but I sincerely doubt someone would maniacally run over to try to grab a knife out of the hand of an 8th grader.

In a world where a stranger asks to sell you weed at a gas station, a stranger with no shirt and covered in blood runs up to you in the street trying to fight you, or in a world where anyone who has a knife or a gun is made to look like a scary nut job/criminal nothing is too far fetched.

Thats not always true. Not as many people actually view people who have a knife or a gun as a nut job or a criminal as a lot of people seem to think (Trust me, Ive been to a gun store in San Francisco and carried two guns in cases with my dad for a couple blocks), its just easier for gun owners to play the victim sometimes than to actually admit that in some cases, reason has been given for the view of anti's (Such as the thread about the guy walking down the street with an AK 47).

Again-I sincerely doubt a random person in a mall would run up, yelling at an 8th grader to drop a knife he is using to open a package.

Happened to me in Asheville, NC.

Why not yell at an 8th grader? They're young and dangerous. Or so everyone seems to think. It is those darn youth that keep killing each other. The younger you are, generally the more distrust there is of you, just saying.

Knives may be on-topic (we do have that whole "NFW" sub-forum, after all) but the trials and tribulations of growing up, or of trying to open packages without inciting mass panic are not.

As an aside, if you want to be taken seriously, don't ever ... EVER ... use the word "Sheeple" again.
