What is your intended use for the upper?

I want to give NRA Highpower a try. THR members suggested WO. I assume I can tell them what I need the upper for and they should steer me in the right direction. Correct?
Thanks!

Yes. John will steer you to what you need. He won't steer you to the most expensive thing or try to "sell" you.

The first question he will ask is whether you intend to shoot Service Rifle or Match Rifle so you need to be clear on that.

Yes John is a good man..He doesn't NEED to sell you. His business is already brisk. He will lead you in the right direction..He is a Hell of a HP shooter himself.

Sounds like I've got a little homework to do. I've looked around on the net and have found some info, but mainly shooting positions, courses of fire. No one at my local range shoots HP, so no help there. I'm about 1.5hrs from Ft Benning, but I don't want to just go to a match and bug people. Anyone know a good source of info?

I recommend trying to find a highpower rifle clinic. My local club usually has one each year to help people get into the sport. The army marksmanship unit always does a 1 day class at the Eastern and Western games in addition to the small arms school at Camp Perry. I have attended this at the eastern games and they are absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend if you get started making the trip up to NC to attend.
