Yep, should be good to go with the A-Max bullets in my new AR. I finally got a chance to try it out this evening. 24.5gr was about 3/4" so i jumped them on up close to max and this was my 1st (and only)five shots. I might try to fine tune it some but i think this will get those pesty little p-dogs pretty good.

i wouldnt try to fine tune that dude! if yu can duplicate that every time id just leave it alone. be a waste of powder and bullets to get better than that.u might try 4198 imr and see what it does. yu will get by with a little less powder.

Yep, I think you'll be okay. I too have had good luck with the A-max in several rifles (including .223Rem., 6mmRem., .30-06Spd., and .300WM) and have concluded that they make a pretty darn accurate bullet, that is unusually suitable for hunting (unlike bullets like the SMK).

:)

I'll see if I can try again today if the wind is better. It was gusting to around 30 yesterday but thats normal for western Ks! Heck, the wind might have blown the bullets there.:)

RR1965, I have some 4198 I think but I have enough of the 8208 for 10,230 rounds so I'll use some of this 1st.:) We're building a new house/shop (and new reloading room) so its a good thing i stocked up on components earlier.

Thanks Bob. This is a new Krieger barrel i just got. I sure hope this is 'the' load. If so, this is the least amount of shooting it has ever taken with any gun I've owned to get it right. Time will tell.

I built up a .308 a few years back using a Lilja Barrel, after following the break in instructions on Lilja's website, I started working up loads with Varget and the 168 A-max. I hit gold on the 1st trip to the range. Tightest group .265... Were good! Scary part is that it also holds tight at range, hair under 3" at 600, did it twice, but conditions were with me, cool clear morning, no wind..

Quality Barrels and a snug chamber are well worth the investment.

great shooting!!!!! i'm going 2 have to get some of those A-MAX bullets ! can't beat that kinda accuracy out of a hunting i just hope my WOA barrel likes them as good as your krieger does

buck, what brass are you using? Are you crimping? Don't get me wrong, that is some really nice shooting that you posted up there, especially considering the windy conditions that you described. I'm just thinking that 1/4 MOA accuracy should be attainable in the rig that you had built. For me the stumbling block was the brass. Mine did better with Winchester.

In any case, congratulations. It looks like you have a real shooter there.

Yep, 100 yds and I am using Winchester brass but i dont like it. Brand new brass but some of the primer pockets werent all that tight. I have many times fire LC and FC brass with tighter pockets. No crimping.

Thanks all for the compliments.

Buck, did you just get that Winchester brass? I did read someplace a little while back about people having that problem.

In any case, have fun with the new toy.

I got it at a local gun show. The guy was from Denver. Come to think about it I might like it after all. That way when I miss a p-dog......:)

Here's some quick loading tonight with Hornady v-max, 40 grainers. Looks like i hurried a little too much but those things will shoot with RL 10x too.

This was shot tonight. After sundown and finally not much wind. I loaded 6 with 55gr v-max and 8208 and shot them. They did pretty good for not working up a load.
