FYI: Got a Cabala's sale flyer in the mail today.

They will have CCI #400 Small Rifle primers on sale for $19.99, Mar 17-27.

Cabela's must have bought a truckload of the small rifle primers, they have been $19.99/1000 for most of the year already. Too bad they won't honor that price on small pistol, I asked.

I was just looking at CCI's web site : 400 For most standard loads in cases requiring small rifle primers.
450 Mag† Magnum primer for ball propellants. (like H-335 ? )
No.41/5.56MM Military small rifle primer with NATO sensitivity. (full auto or simi auto ? )
BR4 Benchrest small rifle primer for critical accuracy needs.

Primers

We just got word that Chattanooga (a wholesale distributor*) is selling CCI
primers too us; for the same price that we are charging our customer's~!
Boy, talking 'bout a bummer - I smell a BIG OLD FAT RAT~! :scrutiny: :uhoh:

*FootNote: Alabama distributor for Natchez Shooting Supplies~!

That's the first time I've seen the price of any primers under $20 since pre-Obama. It just might be time to replace some of the primers I've used over the past 2 years. Thanks for the heads-up Sir...

What about the hazmat fee for shipping from Cabelas?
I'm assuming the Hazmat fee is the same from Cabela's as any other store but I live close enough to Cabela's to go there. I'm not close enough to just drop by but if there's something I really want I can get there.

I have used standard CCI #400 primers in .223 with W-748 ball powder for about 40 years in AR-15's, Mini-14's, and others.

They work just peachy keen in that application.

I didnt tell ya this, But if you print out that add from cabelas and head down the street to Bass pro shop if you live closer they will honor there price. I'm 6k deep from bass.

Hmmmm!
Before going to Bass Pro Shop, I wonder if you could Photo-shop that CCI #400 Sm Rifle add and make it a #500 Small Pistol add?

Unless you have a light striking hammer, why don't you try SR primers in your pistol rounds. I searched around a lot on this information and have heard no real world bad effects and a lot of real world good results from reloaders doing this. Yes, SR primers have thicker walls and are typically harder than SP primers, but if your gun works as it should, there ought to be no problem doing this. Other than the wall thickness, all other dimensions are the same, most importantly the external ones.

I was considering this when California nearly instituted AB962 which limited handgun ammo purchases. When the deadline approached, pistol ammo was gone from the stores and pistol reloading supplies were vanishing fast.

I tried a box of CCI #400's for .357 magnum and .38 special loads in my Ruger Service Six and they worked fine. I fired off 6 empty cases with only primers installed and they all went off without a problem. I have since shot off several hundred and never had a misfire.

Glad to hear that! I just stocked up on WC844 (H335 equiv pulldown) and those Cabela's $19.99 CCI SR Primers

$10/lb + $20/M

Thanks RC. I am misfortunate enought to have to drive by a Cabelas everyday going to work... at least the wife feels its unfortunate.

RC - I've shot over 300 of these SRP in luger and 40SW reloads out of Glocks and a Stoegar Cougar without a hitch.

I went to Cabela's on Saturday and bought some CCI SR primers. (and a whole lot more too!!) I really don't need SR primers but at that price I would be angry at myself if I ended up paying more in the future. I only bought 2000 but hey, the price was right. The regular price was marked $30.99 and the sale was $19.99. The other CCI primers were marked $30.99 and $32.99 so that was a bargain. Now if I could have just bought the primers I would be happy instead of spending an additional $100 on "other stuff I needed" (didn't really need) lol...

Just and FYI on this. I stopped by Cabelas today right after they opened. They still had plenty on the end cap. I picked up 6k. I will probably pick up another 5 or 6K when I get paid again this week if they still have some.
