im wondering how i can get a good machinist style drawing of the frame and grips of black powder revolvers, ideally walker/dragoon or 1851 or even 1860.

have some interest in replicating colt top strap experiments but need good dimensioned drawing before i can even start basic work.

You have to make them. I would suggest starting with reverse engineering a pistol of your choice. Then you can create drawings. Solid models would be the most useful and you can generate drawings from those.

E-Bay has detailed plans for the 1851 for sale. Search for "Black Powder Plans" on E-Bay. Take a look at the seller's other items and he has prints for the Walker too.

They are just "illustrations" with a few nebulous dimensions thrown in here or there. I can tell you the 1860 drawings are next to useless unless you just want to frame them as firearms art.

Not just an "opinion" on my part...incontrovertible fact unless I am addled in the head.
