Buffalo Bore Ammo for SD

I was looking at one of the two loads from BB as a home defense load in my
4" gp100

38 Special 158 Grain LSWC-HP 1000fps, OR

357 Magnum 158 Grain JHP 1100fps

I want something with less flash and concussion than full-house .357 loads. Any thoughts on which would suit my needs best?

I'd use the 38 load. You aren't losing much compared to the 357.

I use the 38 Special 158 Grain LSWC-HP in my S&W 686

With the 357, it's slightly closer to the cylinder (~1/8"??) than the 38 so you might get slightly better accuracy.

Buffalo Bores 158gr LSWHP .38 load from a 2 3/4 inch Speed Six hits 1100 fps (I know cause I chroned it myself as well as from a 2 inch 64 which gets 1000 fps.)

So a 4 inch barrel will do even better!
