Opinions of the FNX pistol.........

Ain't gonna shoot it high-thumb, if you're so inclined to do such a thing. That safety/decocker is kinda handy but it surely does want to decock the pistol all the time if you try to index your thumb on the safety....

Barrel, slide, fire control group are metal. Frame and safety/decocker levers are poly. I think the trigger is poly but I'm not 100% sure.

At least on my FNP the fire control group is mostly polymer, yes the trigger is polymer.
The FNP was a pretty good deal 4-5 years ago when you got the gun and 3 mags for around $300, but at $550-$600 for the FNX, there are better guns for the money. I especially like the Walther P99, with the price drop it's now the same price as the FNX but better ergonomics, a more solid feel and a much better DA/SA trigger, the FNP/FNX DA trigger pull is pretty heavy.

I agree about the prices. When the FNP first came out is was available at a big discount compared to the Glock/XD/M&P, but in my area, they quickly rose in price and within a year were listed for more than the Glock/XD/M&P.

Accurate, low recoil, easy to shoot fast in SA. DA is pretty heavy. They come with three mags and nice box. I got my FNX40 on sale for $470 about six months ago. It's been a good nightstand gun for me.

I like my FNX-9 quite a bit. I'm sure that you know by now that it comes with three mags, various backstraps and is made in the US. The DA pull is rather steep but the SA pull is pretty nice in my opinion. For as little as it weights it has surprisingly little recoil. I only have 200 rounds through it because I got it in the middle of winter, but it has been flawless so far.
So far my thoughts have been "What's not to like?".

The FNP has a metal safety/decocker. One reason I plan to go with it over the FNX.

If I only planned to have a single modern auto I would choose something with SA capability like the FNP over a Glock or M&P. Luckily I can buy as many as I like. I've found the FNP and the SIG P229 fit my hands better than just about anything else.

LOVE my FNP9. Surprisingly awesome trigger, very light weight, minimal recoil for a polymer gun, sweet sights, crazy easy to break down/clean, and excellent accuracy.

I've also read that they changed the mag retention/release system with the FNX and they've had some issues with that.

I was in a similar boat last year - deciding between an FNX-9 and a Walther P99. After evaluating both, I got got a P99. Couldn't be happier. For about the same price, the Walther is a better gun in just about every way. Not to say the FNX is a bad gun - it's actually very, very good. But the ergonomics, the trigger, and especially the fit and finish of the Walther just feel so much nicer.

It also doesn't hurt that the P99 has been around for about 15 years now, so accessories are pretty easy to find.

I have both the FNP and the FNX in 9mm. I have put over 2,000 rounds through the FNP and over 700 through the FNX without any issues from either. The reliability is excellant for both. I plan to keep both for a long time, but I find that I like the FNX a little bit more.
It's a couple of ounces lighter but feels a little better balanced in my hand. The recoil is barely perceptable. The sights are great and the accuracy is outstanding. I find that I like the plastic decocker/safety better than the FNP's metal one. It feels better when manipulating it and doesn't protrude like the FNP's.
The one that is a minor complaint is the length and weight of the DA mode. With the ability to engage the safety after decocking, if you are so inclined, the length and weight seems like overkill. The single action is first rate.
Overall I am very satisfied with both FN pistols. If you decide to get an FNX I don't think you will be disappointed.

I did not feel much difference between S&W M&P, XD or FNC product. The one that felt the best was called Steyr c9 or m9. I have no experience with this gun but the company makes good dump trucks so perhaps their pistols are also good tools. Guess I like modern striker fired auto with 4-5lb trigger and short reset.

I dont really have 1 bad thing to say about my FNP9. Its eats every type of ammo I feed her, not a single malfunction in over 300 rounds, and feels great in my hands. And since a thread is always better with pictures :
