With production on season 3 gearing up, The History Channel is NOW CASTING SEASON 4 of its electrifying marksmanship competition show. Producers are looking for anyone with unrivaled shooting skills and a big personality to take on exciting physical challenges with multiple guns and mystery projectile weapons. Simply email [email protected] with your name, city/state, phone number, a recent photo of yourself and a brief explanation of why you are America’s next “Top Shot.” If producers want to follow up, they will contact you for more information. If you have questions, please call our casting hotline: 818-478-4570.

Deadline to apply is MAY 20, 2011.

I would apply if my skills were up to par. Sadly they aren't.

Cmon guys here that have complained about the show. Here's your chance!

Bag on the show if you like, but there have been a number of phenomenally good shooters on that show.

Insofar as drama is concerned, Top Shot is probably the least dramatic reality game show series to ever air on television.

Also, none of their promotional material is written in fuchsia.

I'm working on losing weight and getting into shape for Season 5 (I think the show is going to run a long time)...I'd rather shoot in the Spring than in the Fall. Do we think 57 is too old for the target demographics?.

I knew I could beat some of the guys in Season 1 (I've trained with the runnerup), but there were some amazing shooters in Season 2 (yes I know my video clip looked like crap)...but most of them are gone now. If I have chance on the show, it's going to have to be on personality/character. Maybe I can be the older Common Man that will draw the sympathy viewers

Definitely want to try out for this. My wife has been bugging me since it came out. I guess now is my chance. Couldn't find out how to apply for this last season... Thanks for the information!

$100,000 would be a nice prize. The pay you get for being on the show probably isn't bad either, considering I'd be doing what I'd want to do anyway, which is outshoot competitors!

9mm: Get someone else to film you.

I'd love to try out for this, but I am quite aware that my skills are mediocre at best. OTOH, unlike some of the competitors I've fired every major class of weaponry they're likely to use (Except black powder.) Including fiddling with throwing hatchets, knives, bows, etc.

Having seen the first two seasons, however, I want to see Kelly back at some point.

I downloaded the application and there is more to it than just emailing them and saying why you should be on there. Nine pages, several of which, are of course, disclaimers. Doubt that they'll choose a sixty six year old but I'm gonna give it a try.

You need the application, a picture, AND a video of you telling why you should be on the show. You also need to be available for about six weeks for taping, during which you will be incommunicado from friends, family and work.

FYI and working on the ap.

I'm a bit too old and slightly too fat to make the demographics. But, I can do most of those shots. Archery is not my thing, everything else is just a real good time.

I will watch it.

Hey TopShot;
Didn't the first season have all men, and the second have just one woman on it?:scrutiny:

I like the show but I think you should do the show with all women on not just the token one or two:scrutiny:
In this last season, the two women dropped out early, it would be really interesting to see "the drama of women competing against women" worked out.

The first season had one woman who left early because her father was dying, the season that just concluded it's broadcast had two women

I actually think it would be good for the show and for shooting in general for them to cast 2 very accomplished female shooters. Both for the added entertainment of watching a couple women stomp some men, and to demonstrate to the fairer sex that women can and do shoot as well as the boys.

FullEffect, they did cast two very accomplished woman shooters in the last season. Both Maggie Reese and Athena Lee are national champions.

I may just apply for this one...I'm pretty confident I can shoot better than 90% of the people cast on the show.

Maggie was accomplished albeit specialized. Athena may have won something before and obviously knew how to handle a firearm but wasn't someone who I thought could actually win the thing.

I think casting a female "ringer" would be good television and good for shooting in general.

TOPSHOT! (Season Five) Promotion Announcement:
In previous seasons of TOPSHOT! we've gathered people from all walks of life to compete against each other. Police Officers, Special Forces, Olympic Champions and Skilled Outdoorsmen have all battled it out to see who truly is TOPSHOT! and it has been incredible! And just when you thought it couldn't get any more impressive History Channel brings you season 5 of TOPSHOT! this time with all of the competitors being true legends of the (internet) Firearms World! Steady your aim and watch Season 5 to see...

The man with the Best Beard on the Internet, Jeff Quinn of gunblast.com, as he shoots and writes a folksy "it's pretty neat little gun" review of every single gun we give him.

Watch!!! Techno-Cowboy, Jim March wields his Rube Goldberg-custom Vaquero, against not 1,2,3,4 or even 5 BUT SIX (yes, SIX) rapid-fire targets! Why not SEVEN? Because we don't have time for him to reload through the loading gate.

Brace yourself, as madman-moderator Tuttle88, pain-stakingly corrects the minor
technical errors with blinding speed and !

All this EXCITEMENT AND... a completely nonsensical EXTREME "loosely, kinda-sorta, not-really but... okay, I guess it has a little something to do with testing accuracy or outdoorsy-type skills deal" COMPETITION between Hickcock45 and Sturmgwere were BOTH MEN will test their AIM using a portable camping toilet. Then attempt to SHOOT a
YouTube video. The winner of the competion will receive a $1.00 off coupon for toilet paper and be safe from the elimination round. TUNE IN FOR TOPSHOT! sponsored by Tannerite! KA-BOOM!

Maggie is an accomplished 3 Gun shooter who lost out due to having to shoot a primitive weapon. 3 Gun is a sport that probably requires the widest cross-section of skills of just about any form of competitive shooting that's out there. I suppose it could be considered "specialized" only insofar as it doesn't much concentrate on things like blow guns or bows and arrows.

Athena Lee is a USPSA Open Class Master, which pretty easily makes her one of the best shooters out there. She's also taken top honors at a number of national and international USPSA and IPSC events.

To say that "Athena may have won something before" is a bit like saying "Brian Zins is ok with a pistol."

I'd apply if my skills were decent...heck most who see me daily already know I'm a bit of a lightningrod, so the reality/nuts aspect of it is met. All I have to do is make one wisecrack about calibers compensating for genetics and watch people get bent out of shape.

Ahh, my mistake, I either missed that on the show or it wasn't mentioned. I don't much keep up on who is who in competition shooting because it isn't really my thing. So when I mentioned "won something" it was more to the point I wasn't aware of anything, which I will be the first to admit that isn't saying much. For what it is worth I didn't know who Brian Zins was either.

So as an interesting point I was just judging people's skills in shooting by what they were able to do on the show and not what they have accomplished in the past.

In any case I am shocked they didn't do better then they did considering their proficiency.

Shoot competitively and you'll very quickly discover that this is the eternal refrain of anyone who's ever had to hit a target under the pressure of time and scoring.

;)

It's amazing how much of a difference there is from an idle day of plinking at the range compared to attending a local match, compared to shooting on a national level, compared to, what I would assume it would be like to compete on TV in front of millions of viewers for a substantial sum of money.

As they say on ESPN, "That's why they play the game"

Just for info, Maggie, Athena, Chris Tilly (from this season), JJ and Blake (from last season) are all on the American USPSA team shooting at the World Campionship in Greece this year
