Guns back in Wal-Mart

This is an excellent thing for our society. I don't really know of any other mainstream retail outlet where the average American shopper can be exposed to the arms trade in as family friendly an environment as this. So many people absolutely burn with hatred for Walmart, but the availability of firearms through Kmart, Sears, Wards, etc. is extinct. Walmart is a good example to the non-gun public of how benign the arms trade is.

I generally dislike their business model but they (or I feel they) seem to be coming around to the gun friendly public. Yeah it wasn't too many years ago that a lot of stores from chains to hardware to drugstores in my area sold guns. I would love to see this become more mainstream and appear back in full force once again.

I was thrilled to see this but only from the standpoint that I love to see the anti-firearm crowd get their noses bent out of shape.

Here in TN they never left either and that is one of the reasons I am in this State. One of the bastions of conservative values.

Florida couldn't figure out what they wanted to be. Some stores had the gear, others didn't.

Happy dance time...

Not because I buy my guns from Wally World, but because this indicates a positive shift in mentality in our country.

I would say it's more like Wally finally realized they were loosing out on a lot of potential sales and made a business decision. They don't do ANYTHING that doesn't result in huge profits.

I just bought my shotgun at Walmart a couple weeks ago. Hopefully we can get them back home in Crook county.....

Heh, yeah - that too...:)

I hope none of y'all mind seeing your local gunshop that carries more than mossberg and Remington go under, or losing your own jobs for that matter.

I wish they would start selling handguns again....I remember back when they keep some in the showcase and would order nearly anything you wanted.

oh stop........im sick of the whole "big mart stores/ internet are putting me out of business!" routine........

the fact is, if walmart selling guns is going to put you out of business.....either:
1.) you are terrible at running a business, and would be out in a year anyways.
2.) see #1

Honestly theres only one gun store in my area and they will do fine....This store already outsurvived walmarts guns the first time and they won't be going anywhere.

My job is fine. The only threat to me is budget cuts but they would fire people under me first.

One Does.. One Doesn't!

I have two "WW's" about equal distance on either side of me. One sells Rifles and Shotguns, as well as ammo.. while the other is void of anything. At the one "WW" I can get 12ga ammo @ $4.98 for a box of 25. It's cheaper than my local gun shops who sell brand names between the high $7's to the low $15's.

When you're cranking out a couple of boxes on weekends the "WW's" sure do make shooting a whole lot cheaper.

Walmart selling guns again

Do they sell any American made guns or are they all chinese? With respect to gun shops; in PA in the seventies my favorite gun store went under because KMART was selling guns cheaper than he could buy them. I despise what Walmart does to smaller communities. Socially and financially destructive. What happens twenty years from now when that is the only place you can buy guns?

Walmart doesn't hurt local businesses? Please go and drive down main street of any small town that has a walmart. They are ghost towns. When a walmart gets approval to move into a new small town location the commercial real estate losses 40% of its value immediately bc they will be out of business soon and will remain empty for a while.

then they failed to offer their customers something walmart couldnt.........

if a few dollars difference is sending your customers out the door......you are doing something wrong.

Well, my guess would be that Scheels and Dicks did something stupid, or got out of guns for financial reasons. I'd guess that the moron kitchen table guy that doesn't return emails went out of business for reasons unrelated to Walmart, and the cop with the side business that has the LEO and AR market cornered decided to stop selling guns and enjoy his retirement.

This sounds good to me. I just wish walmart made it easier to buy ammo. I hate having to find the person with the key so I can buy ammo. Academy has unlocked ammo on the shelves. Why can't walmart?
