Looking for a 10.5" barrel (smooth or finned) for thompson SMG pistol. I bought a Kahr for cheap but it has the 16 inch barrel. I don't care about the condition-it will be blank adapted anyway. Thanks.

Interesting first post. Welcome.

At least he's in the NFA subforum.
I doubt he'll get much exposure in the Want To Buy subforum.

Someone will come along and preach the rules and laws.

Theoretically, you can put a short 10.5" barrel on a semi auto Thompson, but it is a good idea to "paper" it first, by doing the NFA form 1 application, paying the $200, etc BEFORE you do anything else, and get the BARF approval. One can convert a regular rifle to an "SBR" (short barreled rifle), but you have to proceed legally. Auto-Ord did produce some SBR's, and may still be making them, but it may be cheaper just to make your own.

SharpsDressedMan,

For a rifle, that would be sound advice. He's talking about the stockless 16" barrel pistol, though. ;)

jm1721,

I'll ask around. I saw a couple of short barrels at the most recent gun show, so I know they're around in this area. :)

PTK,
Thanks. You are absolutely correct. I have a Thompson pistol that was rebarreled with a 16" barrel. I have seen new barrels going for $200 to $300, but I am looking for a used one because it is going to be blank adapted. The crappier the better (for the most part, of course).

Too many guys hear "Thompson" and want to quote federal law. The post was about wanting to buy gun parts, not legal advice. As a former law enforcement officer and current firefighter, I know the law. I appreciate you in looking into it.

dprice3844444,

Sarco doesn't have any 10.5" barrels in stock, unfortunately. I went through their website to double-check.

jm1721,

Still no luck finding one locally yet, but I'm keeping my eyes open for you. :)
