"The notion that somehow or another that this Justice Department is responsible for those deaths, that assertion is offensive," Holder said, referring to the death of American Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

truth hurts eh?

This from the same people who blamed Rush Limbaugh for OKC bombing. They want to throw darts at others...

In the law there is a concept called Sovereign Immunity, i.e. the King can do no wrong.

Since the King is the source of all law, anything the King does must be legal.

While not officially a King some of our politicians have grasped the concept.

Holder fires back

How much can the 42 percent of americans that pay taxes, yes forty two percent, take from the government? The Soverign example is a good one. I used to blame the liberals. We voted to turn out congress into a conservative, rational group that would implement real changes. No such luck so far as far as I can determine. How do we turn the tide? How do we extend the concept of the second amendment preserving our constitutional rights to the rest of our constitution?

I'd suggest we begin by outlawing paid lobbyists.

This gov't is out of control.

"When the President does it, that means it is not illegal." - Richard M. Nixon

There are a great deal of executive actions which involved unilateral interpretation of the Constitution to deal with crises. Read more of the history in John Yoo's book Crisis and Command. This isn't a problem which has only surfaced in the two most recent administrations.

What you've put in there is neither conservative nor rational. However, the evidence of this is beyond the scope of the forum.

out lawing paid lobbyists wouldnt work , theres always ways around the legal terms to get things accomplished , not to mention of course the NRA would be on that list , if you think for one minute the NRAs lobbyist "arent giving away" vacations and other such stuff , think again , lobbyist are paid well because they know how to institute graft on politicians without getting caught , our NRA lobbyists are professionals , dumping lobbyist would hurt Gun owners

Amend the constitution so that all federal laws sunset after 10 years. Keeping existing laws in force would keep congress too occupied to screw with anything else.

IMHO the only reform needed would be to change election laws so candidates can only accept contributions from people actually eligible to vote for them. That would make President the only national campaign and limit the scope of a lobbyist's financial reach.

Some might argue that then only the "rich" could run for office, but so what? They would be putting their own money at risk for what they believe in. Do you really want unsuccessful people (like Obama -- never had a real job) trying to run the Government?

that assertion is offensive

Yes, it is offensive, and especially so because it is true. It is offensive that the US gvt. would have contributed to the violence. It is offensive that the BATFE would have contributed to the death of US citizens and US law enforcement personnel. It is offensive that Eric Holder would head an organization that lies about the what and where of the guns used in the southern drug violence while funneling guns to contribute to that violence and then lie about their role in contributing to the death of Americans and American officers.

Yes, it IS offensive.

Quick reality check here: 1. Obama's held several "real jobs" and has made quite a bit of money from his books. He is actually a multi-millionaire. His income in 2009 was $5.5 million. 2. Oddly enough, one of the most successful strategies of Obama's 2008 Presidential campaign was a record number small donations from individuals, i.e., the people who voted for him.

That being said, Holder sounds like one more Attorney General who needs to be dumped (or maybe indicted). The buck may stop with the President, but it sure as heck made a stop at Holder's desk on the way.

Obama's held several "real jobs"

Fer instance?

and has made quite a bit of money from his books

The real question is did the publishers make any money from his books? Having his Liberal media backers give him a $1M or whatever advance for a book is way different that being a successful author. I've several friends who've written good books but have had zero success at getting them published.

His two books I'm aware of are political claptrack. If average people actually buy them and believe in him I'm afraid we are doomed :(

He worked for community groups and taught at the University of Chicago Law School for 12 years. He also was an associate at the law firm of Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland.

He was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review and graduated with highest honors with a Juris Doctor degree. He was asked to write a book that became Dreams from My Father. It received high praise from the critics and has gone through seven printings. Obama won a Grammy for the auto book version as well as a half-million-dollar advance on a version for youthful readers.

His second book, The Audacity of Hope, was published in 2006 and went to No. 1 on the New York Times and Amazon best-seller lists.

I'm guessing the publisher made his money back.

Getting a book published is tough; even if it's a good book. Tell your friends to keep trying. Also tell them to see if they can get a meeting with an agent.

Your opinion and you're welcome to it. I could give you a list of books I consider political claptrap, not to mention lousy writing, but that have sold well.

And this really isn't on topic and, frankly, isn't High Road. The topic is Attorney General Holder whom I think most of us agree is not a shining example of the breed nor is he one of Obama's better cabinet picks.

My concern is that Holder really does have a lot of work that needs to be done (Wall Street, Medicare and welfare fraud and immigration, just to name a few) but I keep getting the impression that he has his own agenda that diverts far too much of his attention.

Guys, debating the merits of the president's book is not really what this threat is about.

I would like to see Holder address the whistleblowers claims directly. If he thinks they're lying, take it to court. The court will wring the truth out of it.

This is how the gun forums read lately.

[innocent bystander poster] "I shot a butterfly in mid air today!!!"

[the frothing crowd] "Obama sucks"

If Holder is guilty of a crime; should do time.
