Hi,

So I live in Chicago and really want to get a 9mm. Since Chicago has the high capacity magazine ban, I'm limited to a few options for 9mm that come with a 10 round mag or can get an after market one. Pretty sure I'll go with the Glock 19, but I thought I'll ask around see what you guys suggest.

Remember: The ban DOES NOT allow modifying a high capacity mag.

Thanks!

I don't know about all manufacturers but Ruger makes 10 round magazine versions of its guns so they can be sold in places that require the use of low capacity magazines.

9mm 1911s have 10 round magazines available, such as the wilson ETM. Standard capacity 9mm 1911 mags are 9 rounds.

Carry?? Here we can barely get a permit to own!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. Glock is great, but doesnt fit my hand like the XDm does. Sig great as well, but it out of the budget ($600)

I am sorry to hear this. Just people from chicago keep working on the law suits with the supreme court to bring those american traitors to justice.

I meant think about .357SIG in glock. like a 31. or even a 22 or 23 with a wolf barrel. For smaller hand gen4. extremelly good round for 10 rounds. Special police loads flat shooting upto 2000fps very deadly. That is the secret service round.

Several years ago, a long road trip took me through California. Laws there are similar in banning magazines over 10-round capacity. I bought several 10-round magazines for my Glock 19 before leaving. Glock makes them and they are readily available for sale. Look at Midway's website. Also Cheaper Than Dirt. Also Natchez. They're not real popular but they are available.

Also, Bud's Gun Shop sells pistols with 10-round magazines standard to meet the requirements of those backward and uncivilized states.

For 9mm... Yes I like the G19 Gen3 rough texture with night sights + Corbon JHP +P like always.
I have one that I don't clean on purpose (I dont carry that one) to see how long it goes without a
failure to fire or feed. So far 4000+ rounds and keeps going.

If you're limited to 10rds, why bother with a 9mm? 45acp is a very comfortable and controllable round.

Why not a G30? 10rd mags, grip large enough for you to get your whole hand on it, glock reliability, 45acp goodness.

What this dude said.

The benefit of a 9mm pistol is the extra capacity. If you can't utilize it you might as well go the route of a larger caliber.

If you want a 9mm for controllability then look at the G26/19 and call it a day.

That is why I recommended the .357 SIG with Special police rounds but the
thruth is that any a 9mm +P, a .40cal, a 45 can a 10mm can get the job done too.
A good round and good placement (lots of training) is the key.

Sounds like California. Here in CA magazines larger than 10 rounds are banned (unless you're grandfathered in from before the ban).

So if you want to see a list of guns available with 10 round mags, all you need to do is go DOJ's list of approved guns:

California Certified Firearms

G30SF is a good choice

My wife and I will travel the length of the Pacific Coast Hwy later this year and I purchased a G30SF with night sights specifically for the trip. The gun fits my hand well, shoots accurately,l and is very reliable. However IMO, it is on the heavy side for a gun of this size. Other reliable alternatives with 10 round mags include Sigs and Berettas. I realize G30 isn't 9mm, but it is stollen excellent choice, recoil is not bad, and great stopping power.

The reason why I choose 9mm vs 45 ACP is budget. XD is an option, it does come with 10 round mags. Ruger...not sure about quality.

I just need the 10 round mag to keep it at home. At the range is a different story...since ALL ranges are outside Chicago, I can get away using high cap magazines!

At the gunshop I work at there are 10 round pistol mags all over the place. Browning, Glock, S&W, HK, and Ruger, all the major gun and magazine manufacturers sent out pistols and rifles with 10 rounders as the standard capacity during the 94' AWB.

After the AWB ended, nobody wanted a neutered magazine, so the shops around here have plenty of used and new/old stock 10 rounders. Just the other day I found about 30 of the Romainian WASR-10 single stack 10 round mags. I'm trying to talk the boss into selling them on Gunbroker or contacting a dealer in a ban state to get rid of them (we need the room).

Actually they are not high cap mags.
They are standard capacity mags.
The 10 rd ones are restricted mags.

Both Glock and the S&W M&P line offer 10 round magazines for their pistols. The fulls size Kahr's have a 9 round magazine.
