Do you always carry?

I carry if I walk out to the mailbox to check the mail. Don't feel like you need to explain anything to anybody. If they press you, just tell them that if you had a crystal ball to see when and where you were going to need it, you'd be working on Wall Street.

I love guns, but that's not why I carry. In fact, I think carrying a gun is a big pain in the ass! I carry because I'm concerned about my ability to defend myself and my family from some of the two-legged animals we KNOW are walking around--we just don't know when and where they might show up. Therefore, I think it makes sense to have a gun handy at ALL TIMES.

I CC everyday, but my friends that know I CC ask me questions like "Why do you carry here or there"... I never carry to work or into bars. Every other place I go I carry. Is this normal? I've had questions such as "Why do you carry in the local grocery store?... Why do you carry at the park?... Why do you carry to other family members house?" I even know people that have been around guns their whole life and are big gun advocates now and they don't carry everyday... Am I missing something? Why get a concealed carry permit and not carry all the time? Maybe I need to realize just because I have the firearm and permit doesn't mean I can't live without it.

i guess you should ask them for a copy the list of when/ where your life will be in danger....so you can know not to be there at the time.....

....ide imagine that list would be a lot lighter than your gun.

If I'm wearing pants, I have a gun. The only person that knows, or that needs to know, is my wife. It isn't a topic that's open for discussion. Friends that want to discuss their concerns about their carrying options with me are welcome to bring the subject up. I will listen and offer suggestions to their concerns all the while completely avoiding any mention of what I personally do. What I do is on a strict need to know basis and they don't need to know.

I fail to see the point in carrying sometimes. The only place I don't carry is school.

I wouldn't walk around unarmed any more than I'd leave my wallet or cellphone behind. DISarming to go somewhere prohibited is what's a pain in the arse. It feels like they're asking me to leave one of my shoes in the car.

To the OP: Why do your inquisitors even KNOW that you are armed?

Whenever I legally can I carry. When I head to work over an hour away I can't. Not allowed to have firearms on property or in vehichle at work. If I could I would tho....

A friends kid asked me one time, "Uncle Dove, why do you carry a pistol"? My response was quick and short, "because I can"....... Not another word was muttered and my buddy just grinned.

I open carry on my ranch and conceal in public.

then yeah, pretty much always. I carried while mowing my lawn on Saturday. I carried while at a party, non alcaholic, on Saturday. I carried on the way to, and while in, church today. I carried at a cookout at the local elks lodge today. I carry to and while at work all day everyday. If I go the local store I carry. While in the housethere is a gun in arms reach all the time if it isn't onmy hip which, it usually is.

Yes. Always. Even when I'm kicked back in the recliner. If it's not on my belt, it's within arm's reach.

+1 on not being too "out" with carrying a gun. There are people who have known me my whole life who don't know that I carry. It's a need to know basis. If they don't need to know...then I don't tell'em. If they inadvertently discover it, I play it down. Only those in the circle who are of like mind and practice know for sure.

My workplace prohibits CC. No exceptions.

Last Sunday before worship, I had a nice conversation about "people" who CC and how they shouldn't be allowed to do so at church. Of course, my brother was unaware of the slim 9mm under my suit coat.

I do not prefer XL t-shirts, but a regular large size will read. So that means wearing nicer button-up shirt makes it easier to carry everywhere in all weather.

and while at work, you don't always carry. In fact, considering that most people sleep at least 8 hours, are at work at least 8 hours and spend some time traveling to and from work, those people carry less than 50% of the time by definition. I do not believe that an employer has the right to take away your rights and, unless legally posted, or agreed upon at time of hire, I would carry anyway. Iam self emploed most of the time but even when I work for others, Icarry.

I carry everywhere that's legal. I carry in my home. I carry to check the mail and to take the garbage out. I'm currently going back to college though, so it's a big pain to disarm before I go to class. I get home and pretty much immediately put on my holster again. Just doesn't feel right without it. To the people who ask "why would you carry to this or that place?" Ask them, "WHY WOULD I NOT CARRY?"

Probably 6 friends have seen my gun on me. I havent been carrying long, so it was a couple weeks of figuring out which shirts didnt ride up and expose the gun.
I carry everywhere but work. No firearms, bows, slingshots, dart guns... if it moves a projectile, and you have it, they'll show you the door.

When asked why I carry, I say "why not?"
Follow up question usually is, "when do you think you'll need it?"
and the follow up answer is "I don't know, thats why I carry."

I carry at all times when lawfully permitted, or when barred from doing so by policy at work (EMS unit.) It goes on my belt when my pants on each morning, and doesn't come off until bedtime. Other than work, there are fewer than one or two occasions each month (most months, there are none) in which I go somewhere where carry would be unlawful.
I carry for the same reasons regarding defense of myself, my mate, and my offspring. As Winston Churchill once said (I paraphrase): "A gentleman will seldom, if ever, need a gun. But, if he does need it, he needs it badly!" All I would add to that is, after the word "badly", is "and he needs it right then and there."

Everywhere except where there are metal detectors. (Court house, fed bldg, airport, etc.) I'd rather run the risk of legal action than run the risk of needing my gun and not having it.

Yes but when the risk of legal action is a FELONY I say it's not worth it. Once convicted of a felony you are no longer allowed to posess a firearm.
