Does anyone know of electronic ear muffs that have multiple microphones and transducers to enhance directional cueing? These would have three mics and three transducers per ear. One mic on each side would face forward, another to the side and the third one to the rear. The little speakers would be likewise placed around the pinna of each ear thereby given aural clues regarding latteral direction of sound. I don't care about longitudinal cues. I realize these would cost more and be slightly bulkier/heavier but it's worth it to me to have a more clearly defined understanding of where noise is coming from.

Does any company make such a device?

Check this one out. If has 4 microphones.

Well two microphones per side.

I used Bling. Search took just a few seconds.
Wow... those look pretty good!! If I can't find a 6 mic pair then I may buy that set. The way in which the ear functions would be better served with a minimum of 3 mics per side for lateral sound placement but 2 per side is definitely better than 1!!

BTW, I searched for something like this a few months ago and found nothing. I either didn't use the right terms or these are a recent development. But... I get the hint and you're right.:D I should have searched again before posting.

Well I just did a search for "Directional electronic ear muffs" and got hit immediately. I just now tried "6 microphone ear muffs" and got no hits. Perhaps that's why.
