Ripped Off By Tyler Trigger Shoes?

The ugly truth seems to be that Tyler is taking money but not shipping product. There has been a recent thread.

It's pretty sad. Glad I got one for my S&W 19-4 when I did. Simple little thing, but well made and really fits the hand well.

same thing happened to me, they cashed my check and i never received my trigger shoe for an Ithaca 37. put in a complaint to the usps for mail fraud, did not hear from them either. i am telling everyone to stay clear from them.

Sounds like a Big Iron Barrels redux.

Are there blueprints or dimensions of T-Grips or T-Grip like devices available somewhere? I have a few contacts with CNC machines...

The real ugly truth is that old man Tyler is dying (or has died).

His family is trying to keep his business alive while keeping their day jobs.

Hopefully they either sort stuff out and get things back on track ... or sell to someone that will.

If this is the case I gotta wonder what it would cost to buy the molds, equipment and name ... based on the buzz about T-Grips and such online, I gotta think they would be profitable for someone in the right position.

I lost my money on a T-grip. I ordered back in November and have never heard anything from them. It was only $40 or so but I really wanted one for my Security Six. I think this has been my only Internet transaction to burn me in the 10 or so years I have been buying stuff on-line (knock on wood).

Anyone that sent money to Tyler and didn't receive product should file a complaint to the State Attorney General in the state they are based. Considering you can no longer access their site I can't tell you which state that is but if you sent them money you know the address.

I lost $100+. Ordered three adapters in October 2010 and never heard from them. Oklahoma City BBB rates them "F" and the lady at BBB said they had MANY complaints about them. The folks at Tyler told BBB to quit send them complaints because they (Tyler) would not respond to them.

The lady at BBB asked me if I wanted the phone numbers of the Postal Inspector's office and the State Attorney General's office (which she apparently had right at her fingertips) and they are:

The owner, who has passed away, had a good business with a good product and reputation but it appears his offspring have destroyed the business and have taken the money and run. It now appears it has become a full fledged criminal enterprise because Tyler's web page is still up and people are still sending them money.

Way to go ArkieVol, that will probably help anyone who lost money.

Anyone who did send them money really should make a complaint with the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office. The State's Attorney General is actually one part of government that actually works for the people.

It's sad to see what has become of that business.

Unfortunate state of affairs for a once very popular product. Perhaps they should look into selling everything to another company? It's a niche product but it seems to have enough of a cult following to still be a viable asset for a larger company.

About two years ago I ordered one for a 642, however, when it came, I realized that the wood grip panels were not flush along the entire front where the panels should be flush with the frame. Mine were back, say, about 1/16" from being flush. I tried the Tyler and it looked terrible, there were spaces where it should have met up nicely with the front of the wood grip edges.

Anyway, I was kind of bummed over the whole thing, I called them and they happily took them back and gave me credit on my credit card. There were absolutely NO issues other than, perhaps, waiting for several weeks for them to fill the order, which I completely understand.

I suppose I could have complained to S&W as that is who I ordered and received the wooden grip panels from, however, other than the Tyler not fitting, I am fine with my wooden panels. They look nice (even though they are not perfectly-flush with the front portion of frame)!

I was going to try to file down the Tyler to make it fit, then I thought of all the times I try to "fix" something, only to make it worse than it was, then unable to return it because I modified it!

I would be leery of buying the business. At this point there are so many people out there that the new owner would be on the hook to for payments and orders sent that a prospective buyer wouldn't be able to put a price tag on the business. I also wouldn't expect to be able to sort all of it out buy going through the books.

I don't think a new owner could just buy the equipment because that is probably substantially all of the assets of the company. My guess is the equipment will be sold someday, but probably as part of a bankruptcy.

You don't have to buy the liabilities when you buy a business. The company I work for bought out another company and they skipped town with our money and some of their clients money. We were in the clear.

Although I must admit there are still some former clients that won't use us now because of the name.

If one were to buy the patents and equipment and start up under a new name I think it would go well. If I had any money I'd be seriously looking into it (if nothing else I'd like a couple T-Grips and considering the prices on eBay and GunBroker it might just be cheaper to make my own ).

I wonder if estate troubles would explain all that has been happening ... well, you would at least think the website would be taken offline though.

It's too bad the company has come to this.The old Tyler T Grips worked magic for folks with smaller hands.I love mine on my old S&W 66.
