That's cool! 6,700 sq. ft. and updated too. Almost makes me want to move to UT and operate a B&B out of it.

I'd like to see pictures of his workshop.
 
There must be something wrong with it for an asking price of 350K. Even in my area where property values are not high by national standards, that is a lot of square footage and a historical house to boot.
 
What would it cost to build a house like that in the same area?

It must have a lot of deterioation.
 
I love NC to much. If I ever won the lottery I would definately buy a large tract of land in that direction and get a plane to take me to it. Nothing against Utah. Just to far away from NC.
 
Hey maybe there are some cool guns hidden in the walls or a secret safe. A couple of his guns would pay for the whole house.
 
Neat. I couldn't do it myself, I'm the kinda guy who keeps to himself. I couldn't handle looky-lou's coming by just to take a peek.

Makes me wonder what happened. The place ought to be turned into a museum.

I think even more telling is if you swing it around 180 deg and look across the street. Very run down looking buildings (can't even tell if they're houses or abandoned businesses).

Even for historical houses, people with money typically don't want to live next to a slum (hence the rise of HOA's. I can't stand em but they are evidence of just how much effort people will to through to ensure that not only theirs, but also their NEIGHBOR'S properties are maintained to a certain level).
 
Small lot? That is one of the bigger lots in the neighborhood.

I cruised around using SpentCasing's link. I think it may be a bit telling that the employment office is on the diagonal corner of the street.

When looking for places to live, a buddy of mine once suggested that I check out the types, condition, and ages of the vehicles parked in and around the area I wanted to live. Based on what I see, I don't know that I would want to drop $400K to buy the house and move there, effect repairs, and start making the lot suitable for the majesty of the home. Cool house, but it is missing 3 things....location location location.
