So I was out visiting the Gettysburg battlefield recently, and afterwards we went into town because the wife wanted to do some shopping. While she went from one store to another, I noticed a little gun store that had civil war repro guns and wondered in.
It was a neat little store with quite a few non firing replicas and and more than a couple of real muzzle loaders and a few over priced Uberti cap and ball revolvers. I struck up a discussion with the clerk about if the muzzle loaders were all clasified as antiques or if any of them in the store were still classified as firearms. The response I got was rather humorous.
"These guns fall under a loophole in the law since they are models of old guns, you don't even need to have the 45 day waiting period for these, just sign the form on the wall, and out the door you go."
I of course inquired about this mysterious waiting period and the clerk said: " Of course there is a waiting period for REAL, guns. You don't just think you can walk in to a store and guy a GUN do you...
I explained (a little sarcasticly)that wasn't aware that Pennsylvania had such strict gun laws, but that it certainly wasn't that way in most places. That is when the guy said the best part with such utter certainty that I just said ok and walked out. He said "Oh, it isn't our state, it is FEDERAL, and that is the case everywhere!."
It really is sad that some people are so misinformed. This guy was so dead serious as well, there was no trying to talk him out of it.
