I just emailed them my number (which they had anyway) and asked to be removed from their list. They emailed back and said I was removed. So far, no more calls.

I really don't know why so many people are so bothered by the calls or emails. All you need to do is ignore the calls or just hang up. And as far as the emails, have you not learned about the delete key? I for one am not bothered by either. As a matter of fact it was because of the calls I was able to get three certificates for a total of $138 which provided me two 4 day handgun and one two day rifle courses. Maybe it is because I have taken courses at Front Sight and know first hand how great the training is. My wife even attended a course with me and even though she is not as enthusiastic a firearm owner as I she admits the course taught her a lot. We both have lifetime memberships now.

I get the emails but stopped the auto-calls. I just pressed the number like they said during the live phone call (not a voicemail of it) and they stopped.

just pressed "3" last thursday and haven't had one since.

This post should get you a warning like one that I got a few days ago. You need to mention a gun somewhere in it or it is not firearms related. Just look at the one about some Monster Hunter book that is going on right now. Although that post is not about firearms it exists because the op mentions guns somewhere in it. I would say edit it before a moderator reads it.

Call the business office, and tell them you would like your 10K in a single wire transfer, then explain to them what harassment of a 'DO NOT CALL' registered number gets them, INVESTIGATED, and fined.

Should we contact a moderator when we find these? Or do they pay to have them??
Besides that there's a "FrontSite" magazine that belongs to USPSA group.

Front Site is a company that's been around for years, and they've been offering training classes and engaging in shady marketing practices for almost as long. Discussing such a company is completely on topic for this forum.

Just look at the one about some Monster Hunter book that is going on right now. Although that post is not about firearms it exists because the op mentions guns somewhere in it. I would say edit it before a moderator reads it.

For those not in the know, Larry Correia was helping to run this forum from day one. If you search the archives of THR, the seeds that eventually lead to the creation of his series of novels were all planted in discussions that happened here. As such, discussions about his books are, in a way, discussions about the things that have happened here.

Front Sight Magazine is a publication put out by USPSA, and has no relation to the Front Site training center that I'm aware of.

It wasn't this thread with the spam. I don't remember if I was logged on or not.

I was thinking copyrights. I see where the 2 "front Sight -Site are spelled different.

Justin, I think it is somewhat unfair to say that Front Sight has been engaging in shady marketing practices without citing at least one example. I for one do not believe that aggressive marketing with emails and phone calls is shady. Many other legitimate companies market this way. Phone companies are an example as well as Directv as another.

While it may not be shady, such marketing is deliberately intrusive, and as far as I'm concerned, the mark of an uncreative marketing staff.

If you want an example of a shady marketing practice on the part of Front Sight, look into the scheme they were running a few years ago where they were selling plots of land for a housing development that was supposed to be built around centralized shooting ranges, but ultimately never materialized.

Furthermore, Front Sight has, in the past, threatened lawsuits against firearms forums when discussions arose around Ignatius Piazza's religious affiliation. Both Glock Talk and The Firing Line were threatened by their lawyers.

Every year when I post something like that somebody always whines about favoritism. But it isn't gun related!

1. I write lots of books for a living, but I only post about the ones that are related to THR. i.e. the one that started on here and was originally written for and sold to THR members specifically, and the other series where the rough draft was actually written live on THR. I've got 3 other series, short stories, and a couple of stand alones and I don't post about them here.

2. I always ask the mods for permission first.

Actually Front Sight doesn't have much love, they came on here and pretty much EVERY OTHER FORUM

and failed to maintain the high road, threatened law suits etc. for discussing the fact that they screwed a LARGE number of people out of multiple HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars. I have seen a number of their adds, I have read about the 'deals' and the good reviews, but I will never spend money at a place that has such poor business practices,

I put them with SCCY, a knockoff that has a product of questionable quality. AND very bad Netiquette.

And yet every first-hand after action training report we've had posted here cites very well delivered professional quality course work and method.

It would seem that they deliver a quality product at a reasonable price.

If their marketing approach offends you, then don't go.

It's a business, though, and to stay alive a business has to engage in promotion.

If they called me at home, I'd probably ask them not to call back.

On the other hand, if they offered me a free flight down, a free two-day course, and a decent motel room, I might be tempted to get some vacation time off work.

Meanwhile, for those of you who want to know how to "put paid" to the phone calls, the above advice seems sound.

This post hit upon one of my pet peeves.

Telemarketing is definitely intrusive and automated telemarketing is downright rude. When I go home, I shouldn't have to put up with someone's annoying machine injecting itself into what little down time I have.

Come on, people, get over it. When it comes to a subject that affects all gun owners, that is firearm training, a little slack should be given to a company that is trying its best to offer excellent training to as many people as it can. It is like people complaining about the NRA's approach to solicit new members and donations to the cause. Both organizations use aggressive methods but they both do us a great service in the long run. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have had training at Front Sight and highly recommend it.

Funny. I've been to a class, get the newsletter emails, and recently joined as a limited lifetime member.
