Over the last 40 yrs I must have had 1 or 2 K firearms go thru my hands and into my safe. Way-Back-When [W-B-W]I owned 10 per cent of all S&W Pinned & Recessed 629's. WBW I became enthralled with magnums be it rifle or handgun but now during the twlight years I am less hooked on magnums whether it be rifle or handgun! And I don't own that 10 per cent of 629's.
A few months ago I went on a mission: to restore a 4 gun collection in S&W 66's. And while thinking about it my mind has been whirling around like dust in a Dyson cannister! Asking myself over and over again: what hangun have I owned which I have liked above all else!
For 3 reason:
---Appearance value
---Maintenance value
---the Feel value.
No matter what rationalization I used only one handgun has ever impressed me. Not many new this but there were a number of stainlss model 60's in use
in VietNam. The stainless gun issue did not get much media attention via TV or the airwaves nor in print! One had to dig deep to find reference to a stainless handgun.
I got home in 1969 and a year later or so S&W introduced the twin brother to the Model 19. The stainless model 66. This model went thru a number of dramatic changes in design and engineering issue's before evolving into a steady performer. All those dash model represent 'change'.
Since then and above all others only the 6" model 66 is my quintessential handgun.
What a piece...
