Shooting without suppresion is like driving without a muffler.

Do you only plan on using it on a 92 or would you like to be able to also use it on other pistols?

Plus they're just awesome. I'd have a hard time finding a gun enthusiast who wouldn't want a silencer.

Have looked into Gemtech and AAC, but what other options are there, what is the max wet decibal reduction (with full powered rounds) I can expect from each, availability, special points of interest, etc...?

and BTW, I figure someone's gonna ask, so my reason for wanting one is due to my hearing loss from military service. I love to shoot, but having lost enough hearing ability already(estimated 30Db), I want all the protection I can get on top of ear plugs.

The Silencerco Osprey, AAC TiRant and Gemtech Tundra are all doable in that price range.

The market seems to like the Osprey and TR moreso than the Tundra right now though.

The osprey .45 on a 9mm is a pretty good host. The frp is a bit louder, but it's a bit larger than the dedicated 9mm Osprey and does a fine job.

It has the versatility of use on a .40 or .45 as well. If you're planning on using it on a larger caliber as well, consider going that course.

The other thought I have is weather you are going to use it on a Pistol caliber carbine or not. I would (personally) probably get a can that is Full Auto rated. But I have big dreams

Interchangeability will depend on thread patterns and mounting options. Some are proprietery; I think Gemtech's tend to be pretty generic. The 92 doesn't run well without a LID/booster in most cases. That has to be figured into the equation as well.

I'm currently waiting on my Form 4 to clear on a SWR Octane 9 HD. People ask "why" and my reasons are:

-Suppressors seem to have zero attraction on the used market, so buy the best you can afford and plan on keep it it forever.
-Since you plan to keep it forever, it is nice to be able to take it apart and clean it at some point.
-Even though 9mm alone may not necessitate cleaning, I'll probably wind up using it on .22LR firearms which DO make a can dirtier.
-Octane HD has heat treated stainless baffles, which to me seem to be a better candidate for solvents and scrubbing action than anodized aluminum.
-Changeable mounts means I can mount it on my MP5 and 9mm pistols, and most likely any other 9mm toys I get down the road.
-SWR has a great track record of excellent customer service
-Yes, SWR was bought out by SilencerCo, but that actually means I can count on long-term support b/c the SWR brand will continue.

Baffle design is similar, it is also full auto rated. Still a solid performer.

You don't hear much of it as the 45's are the best sellers. The 9mm's are not.

My guess would be price. They are not the least expensive option. Also, they are more oblong than round and are eccentric as well. Some folks don't care for those features.

The fact that the .45 does a pretty descent job on 9mm (other than a louder FRP), and the fact that you can use it on multiple calibers makes it a more attractive choice than the dedicated 9mm can.

I have the 9mm tirant and 9mm osprey as well as 7 others. The osprey and tirant sound the same and are around 125db dry. Great cans. Checkout my YouTube channel, I do a sound comparison with a ton of cans. You can get an idea.

Because with a 9mm Osprey, all you shoot is 9mm through it.

With a 45 Osprey and three pistons, you can run on your FNP Tactical in 45, HK USP Tactical in 40 and Glock 17 in 9mm. One can, three hosts.

Just buy both! Your going to anyway. And give GoingQuiet a call, he usually has them in stock!

ok does that mean i can use my 9mm can on 380 32 and 22

You can use your 9mm can on 380,32 and .22 but the .22 is going to be REALLY DIRTY. The lead and lube will really jack up a sealed can badly. .22 is best served with a .22 can that you can take apart and clean periodically.

If you want a "one can does most" then you'll probably want a Liberty Mystic. Longer than a Trident-9, but quieter as well. User Serviceable with a stainless steel monocore for easy cleaning using a dip or ultrasonic or both. www.libertycans.net
