Pedersoli Kodiak .58x12

The double rifles/shotguns can grab you hard. If your wife really loves you and you're worth keeping she just might forgive you for this one..............but don't push your luck.

I didn't know they made combos. I thought they were all the same in both barrels. I was not aware they made any shotgun calibers either. I guess there's a lot I don't know.

Don't think I can afford it. That means I could probably buy it, but there's no way I could get it past my wife. She knows how much my Howdah pistol cost, so I can't make her think I got a great deal on the Kodiak.
Then I'd have to get bullets/balls or a mold for the .58 barrel. It may be .54, but it looks like it's the same groove diameter as a .58 Minie. Definitely bigger than a .50.
I wonder if the shop it's in will do a layaway?

Ah My Dear Hellgate -
at one time the Kodiak was offered in a variety of barrels including double .50, double .54, double .58, SxS 12 and 20, and the combination gun.
If I recall correctly both Cabelas and Dixie once offered a special kit with 2 sets of fitted barrels such as .50 double rifle and 12 ga double shotgun.

The capegun would have to be (IMHO) one of the most versatile of all caplocks, allowing you to walk the fields and take birds, small or large game as chance allowed.

Due to the complexities of barrel regulation, The Kodiak is a most affordable solution, and I have lusted after one for well over a Lustrum;

However there is the unfortunate problem that in all the states where I could hunt, BP large game season regulations preclude a double gun! Since I am not a museum, a double rifle that costs actual money is difficult to justify and by putting economic realities such as new roofs and septic systems ahead of pricy BP lusting I have achieved a balance of domestic tranquility that I intend to maintain

I shoot both calibers in BP and would be tempted to get it but I also don't believe it would be legal for Orygun ML seasons. ...... Just checked the regs. Must use a single barreled rifle but SXS shotguns are OK. I would expect a single barreled rifle and shotgun would be questionable. I'd hate to be the test case as to whether it was legal. I guess one could argue that it is a single barreled rifle and single barreled shotgun but the officer might just say "look, it's got TWO barrels and it's also a rifle". Who knows?

Lustrum, Now that is a word I'm going to have to use..........somewhere, somehow. and Express rifles is just the place to use it.

I've had two of the double rifle versions, but neither was particularly great. Regulating POI turned out to be a real headache, and I had a lot of FTF's with them. But they are a lot of fun when they work right, and I never had a failure on the first few shots--only when they started sooting up.

I have to agree with Cosmoline I have the CVA version (not the quality of Pedersoli but I bought it new at Friendship for $80). Unlike the Pedersoli it has only one rear sight and adjusting it os a real trial that I haven't accomplished yet.
