Group,
I am not much of a modern pistol shooter and frankly prefer carbon steel to stainless but alas I need to get something modern. I normally buy pre-1950 revolvers lately so modern steel is something I am pretty unaware of.
Laws have changed here in Texas so we now can take a handgun in our trucks to and from work. Our places of employment can no longer restrict us having concealed and licensed handguns stored in our vehicle while at work. So I can now start to "carry" a gun back and forth and just leave it in the truck.
I am looking for an autoloader suggestion but they have to fit in these parameters:
1) 380 auto or bigger, 9mm preferred
2) Must be reasonably rust-free as I live on the gulf coast and it will rust in the truck. Stainless and aluminum would be preferred
3) Must have an actual safety. Prefer a decocker. No "safe action" guns or DAO's without an actual safety.
4) Needs to be small enough that it is easily carried. As much as I would like to carry a full sized 1911, that is too much for me to conceal easily.
5) No real budget limit but I don't want something super expensive I have to worry about every time I go into the store.
I was sort of thinking about the springfield EMP in 9mm. I normally carry a H&K P7PSP but even with teflon coating, that will rust in the truck. I am currently using my beretta 84F but its a nice gun and unless I just buy another with all of the lettering on it, I don't want to leave it in the truck all day. My alternate is a sig 238 for general carry with shorts in the summer so it is also a possibility.
So what else is there in the EMP to SIG 238 range in say 380 to 40?
