Loading the 327 Federal Mag (or other cartridges)FMJ data vs Lead

I picked up a a 327 Federal Magnum. I have several loads and data sheets on it. I have loaded several rounds with HP 38, Win Auto Comp but want to get the round up to it's full potential.

I also have the new Speer Data using a 1115 FMJ GDHP. I have a box of 113gr hard cast GC lead bullets and believe I can use the Speer data for this lead bullet as it would be less pressure than a FMJ bullet. I will not be using the H110 as it does not like downloading, but would like to try the 2400 at the start load. Note the Speer data is using a SR primer.

Does this sound reasonable??

It will take less powder to get the velocity with lead.

Perhaps someone has a manual with .327 mag lead data and can help.

I would just back off the jacketed data 15 to 20% and work up if I had no lead data. That will still be plenty to get the bullet out of the barrel, easily.

I have lead data, but not for a 115 gr with 2400. Hodgdon list's a lot of powders, HP 38 and Win Auto Comp are pretty much the best as to velocity but they are only around 1000 fps.

Power Pistol with 6.0 grs is is the most I have tried so far.

Accurant #7 really gets it up there but I have none of that powder.

Lyman cast has good data but only up to 100 gr bullets. An 100 gr bullet from a 3" barrel to 1523FPS

You can load Trail Boss right up to the bottom of any seated bullet and be fine. The beauty of any of the 32's is pretty much all loads will shoot well.

True, but Trail Boss is pretty anemic for this round, more of mouse fart.

You can also look at 32 H&R data. I think you can safely start at those and work your way up. The Alliant site shows 7.7gr of 2400 for a 100gr JHP in 32 H&R. This gets about 1090 fps. They show 11gr of 2400 for a 115gr JHP in 327 Fed for 1300 fps.

I'd back off the 115 JHP load since the lead will go faster. Perhaps begin with 8 or 9 gr of 2400 and see how things go?

The Hodgdon site lists 5.3gr of HP38 for a 115 LRNFP and gets 1218 fps at 41200 PSI. That is their fastest load with this bullet. HP38 is a rather fast powder for this cartridge. I think 2400 or bluedot would be better choices.
