Signing a petition at whitehouse.gov is as effective as writing "we want cheap gas" on the restroom wall at a gas station.
The ONLY ways to remove silencers/supressors/FA/SBS/SBR from the National Firearms Act is by congressional legislation.
That change isn't going to come from the whitehouse..........EVER.
So you recommend staying silent instead? You know, since you feel like you're shouting into the wind, or at a brick wall?
I reiterate... The problem here is that there is no unification, no 'collective voice'. There are a handful of people clamoring for our rights and everyone else is arguing about "why bother, it doesn't do any good"
Maybe I'm an idealist, but if everyone that doesn't bother because it won't help anyway got off their high horse and spoke up too, our voice would be very loud indeed. Perhaps loud enough to be heard and have something done about it.

How does signing a petition at the Whitehouse based website have any effect on changing legislation? The Executive branch has no authority to change legislation. Only Congress can.
Since this site has popped up we've seen a huge jump in folks starting some petition to the Executive branch that can only be addressed by the Legislative branch. Is peoples' understanding of how government works that off target???
I think it's akin to people wanting their opinions known to those in charge... The issue here isn't whether the executive branch can do anything to enact the specific changes petitions are asking for, the issue here is making sure the executive branch knows what the people want when it comes time to vote on this stuff. I believe that even if it doesn't bring about a drastic change as a direct result of the petition, that it still HELPS. It draws more attention to our issues.
I thought this was an activism forum, not a "it's pointless why bother" thread repository.
Perhaps you know of a place where we would be better served to post these types of petitions and activism requests?
Instead of shooting down the efforts we're making by rote, you should at least provide alternate options or something that you feel could help more. New ideas are needed much more than criticism.
