Berreta 92fs????

You should do a search on old posts here. You'd be surprised - Beretta 92s get talked about all the time on this forum and others.

After owning all sorts of guns over the years - I find the 92 is my fav platform... I carry one every day too...

I think you can get them around $560. in either Italian or USA made. Both are nearly identical and readily available. They are a great gun. You definetly feel you got something for your money. Solid, all metal, well crafted, reliable and you can always find parts. I noticed at Cabella's yesterday they are making the INOX (SS) version with a silver controls again. They had made them with black controls for a while which didn't look nearly as nice.

But, the all black bruniton looks great too!

Where I live a new one is about $600 at any shop.

I picked mine up lightly used for $425. Love it!

Sold my last 92fs about 2 months ago and dang if I did not walk into a pawn shop a couple of weeks ago and they had a real nice 92S for $400 out the door so I guess I still have a 92 now. LOL

My local shop has them for $489 NIB. If I didn't have two already I would have picked one up from there. Between my two 92fs's I have fired well over 10,000 FLAWLESS rds. It is truly one of the finest machines ever made, pure class.

I 'm retired from a Sheriff's Department and was a State Certified Firearms Instructor for Twenty years. I have shot them all and the Beretta 92F and 92fs have always been my favorite Duty gun. I have Several Bertta 92 FS guns that have each had over 10000 rounds put though them and they not once ever jamed or failed in any way. I have my Beretta Duty Guns equipped with either Crimson Trace or Laser Max sights and it makes for one fine Duty gun. The only problem I have encountered with the Beretta 92F is that it is a problem for anyone with really small hands but with proper gripping and practice proficiency is acquired.

I for one have to consider a Beretta Mini-magnum in 9mm, .40 caliber to be a great Detective's gun choice and ideal as a off duty choice. The Mini Magnum requires a a bit of instruction and practice to become proficient.

Obviously it's still pretty popular, but I for one do not like them at all. Too big for the round, the grip is too big for my hand, more complicated than pistols like the Glock or XD, very heavy DA trigger pull, and don't like the open top slide.

Pleased with my Inox, although admittedly, I haven’t shot her much since I prettied her up.

That INOX is frickin beautiful! Pray tell, what did you have done to it in way of "beautification"? Blued this n that, slide???, smooth wood grip panels?... nice. Very nice.

Does anybody still like them? Heck yeah! My beretta 92FS was the first pistol I bought on my own and still have it - it's what I compare everything else to. Yes it's big and heavy, but man is it nice to shoot. Never had an issue with mine - absolutely love it.

I shoot in a tactical match every month at our local range. Normally we have between 50 to 60 shooters and im one of the few that still use a steel hangun. I would'nt take nothing for my big'ol Beretta.

The Beretta is a good gun, a very good gun. I've owned a few, have a lot of respect for them, but don't like them as well as some other brands. If you like the gun, and can get one at a good price, you could do a lot worse.

Like you I wanted one simply because it was our official miltary sidearm. I could find no real fault in the gun, other than just liking others better. I eventually sold it but would never hesitate ot recommend one if someone likes them.

I picked up a 92A1 a month ago. Shot 250 rounds through it and it is perfect. feels great, very accurate. Because of how much I love it, am going to get a M9A1

They are well made pistols. The slide/frame mating is very slick. But they have the WORST customer service of any arms maker, bar none. I got a Vertec to find that I couldn't pull the trigger DA too easy... If parts are easy to find, I never did find a replacement frame. The factory was not helpful at all. I finally sold it to a friend years later, he had smaller hands and loved the pistol and could fire it DA.

You also should change out all the springs in it every 5,000 to 15,000 rounds. You don't hear that often, but if you want it to stay in top notch condition, you will need to do that. They do sell spring rebuild kits, at least you can find those.

I still liked the M9 though, I used one in the army and they were rugged pistols. Accurate too. Had I not had such a HORRIBLE experience with the company, I'd have bought another M9 or 92FS. As it is, I am unloading all my Beretta stuff, I still have a new Galco shoulder rig and several mags for sale, and I'd rather sell them than have to deal with Beretta again should I have a problem.

A better or at least as good 9mm pistol in my opinion would be the CZ75. Similar features, no Beretta company to deal with.

What are the differences between the M9 and the 92FS?

The M9 doesn't have a radiused backstrap on the grip area of the frame (not all 92FS do either, but most will), and the M9 comes from the factory with a 2-dot snowman style sighting system instead of the 3-dot. Those 2 things and the rollmarks are the only differences.

Don't forget the 92FS (since about the early 2000's) has a slanted dust cover and the M9 still has the straight dust cover.

Also a 'not always' thing..

Some regular 92's were floating around recently with what were thought to be overrun M9 frames with the straight dust covers. Also, some older models may or may not have the straight dust cover. But yes, 90% or more of the time that's correct.

I kind of wish they never went to the slanted dust cover on the 92FS. I like the classic looks of the straight dust cover frame on the M9, but I also prefer the radiused back strap and 3-dot sights of the 92, plus I like to see "Made in Italy" on the left side of a Beretta pistol slide.

My 92fs is the most accurate and reliable 9mm I've ever used. I have sold off all my other 9mm pistol but the Beretta and SA XDm-9 Compact. The Beretta is a permanent addition to the collection.
