I finally got my buckmark delivered a few days ago. I love it, I put 5 rounds down it, it shoots awesome, feels good ( maybe a little front heavy but not a big deal to me ) .It was NIB from Cove Creek Outfitters ( through Gunbroker). My concern , well question is, is it normal for a new gun to have blemish's see pictures: The U on the barrel looks like it was handled and rubbed down, and on the slide paint has 3 bumps

I don't believe the slide or barrel are painted on the stainless Buck Marks (at least my stainless BM Plus wasn't). You'll sometimes see lettering on firearms where all the markings are not legible. This can happen when it is done (ie. uneven roll mark) or during final finish/assembly (ie. buffed out).

Greg

Thank you guys, and happy Halloween So the bumps on the slide i shouldn't worry about or try to get the manufacture to fix?

I wouldn't be too concerned especially if it's functioning well.

I would be interested in hearing if anyone else on the forum thinks the paint droplets might indicate some type of after-factory paint work or if it's totally normal.

I've never heard of a factory gun having visible paint drops like that, but it may be nothing.

It's a great .22 you have there though and it should serve you well for many decades to come.

FWIW, my BM Plus had some kind of casting/machining flaw (sorry, can't remember exactly what it was) in one of those recessed areas. It in no way affected the function of the gun, but at some point I sanded it out and blasted the recess on either side of the slide.

The gray on the OP's gun looks like some kind of applied finish, not natural metal...Personally, I'd be concerned with it not adhering.

Looks familiar...I don't have those issues with my buckmark. If it really bothers you, contact browning.

I'm sure they would do whatever it takes to make it right for you if you are dissatisfied.

hah, nice Buckmark ForumSurfer =d
and I might call browning, I just don't want whatever coating is on it to flake off
thanks

Mine used to look like that, until I did this...

You can't believe the difference in weight, I have the factory stainless bbl in the original gun case for storage. I shoot pin matches and steel plates with it. CCI Mini Mags are REAL accurate in both configurations.

The bumps are on the outside, so unless you plan to display the gun, just go with it and enjoy it. My Buckmark is my go to gun for rabbits out to 30 yards, and I have never had any problems with it.
