Hard to beat the price of an SP2022. $350 buys a great gun, and I would personally go for that over a Ruger P95. I know the P95 has a great track record for reliability, but last few new P95s I looked at in stores looked ROUGH (this was back when my brother was shopping for a 9mm - he ended up getting an SR9). I'm talking rough machining marks and sharp edges all over the slide (especially around the safety/decocker), and magazines that looked like they were assembled by monkeys. Shocking considering that the Ruger SR9 (which I believe is made in the same factory) is a fairly nicely finished gun.
All that said, last year I almost purchased an FNP-9 or FNX-9, but went with a Walther P99AS instead, and haven't regretted it for one second. Back when the FNPs were selling for under $400, they were a great deal, but now that they (and FNX) have crept up in price to the $550 range, I'm not so sure. There are a lot of VERY high quality and well-proven designs (i.e. P99AS) in that price range.
And there are very good designs at the ~$400 range as well that the FNP used to occupy (SP2022 and SR9).
