Ive recently decided to get another 9mm and ive narrowed it down to 3 pistols based on cost and how well it grips.Ive had alot of experience with the ruger but none with the fnp or sig although ive read many reviews on all 3.I wanted to what the high road community thinks.I honestly like all three but right now can only pick one.....

I really enjoy my FNP-9 and definitely recommend it. Great ergonomics, accuracy and price point. I believe the frame cracking issue was from a batch manufactured three or four years ago and FNH stepped up to the plate and took care of it. I would not hesitate to get another.

Judging by the poll its almost even across the board. Thanks for the responses so far.

i think you're right, i recently sold a new old stock fnp (been on the shelf since 06 or 07) and a few months later the customer came back with a cracked frame- i sent it in to fn and they were johnny on the spot with a free replacement- only took a couple of weeks and NO hassle-

thumbs up to fn! but id still get the ruger out of these three options.. its an old battle axe with some charm despite its raw ugliness :)

It's not the frame, it's the housing for the fire control group. There was a batch in late '06-'07 that got out with a flaw in the molding.

Also, quite a few FNPs came with the external safety. All the USG models did, and it was an available option on non-USG guns. I had a non-USG FNP-9 with the safety/decocker, I got rid of it to make room for an FNP-9M that also has the safety/decocker and factory night sights.

Tommorow is decision time.Im gonna take my time and hold all 3 again and go with what feels the best.Im not worried about reliability or looks as i think they all are pretty reliable guns.Im gonna want at least 3 mags total so ill look at how much those are going for.Takedown doesnt look hard on any of them at least from the you tube vids ive seen.Im kinda leaning on the sig then ruger then fnp at this point but ill have a better idea tommorow.

Hard to beat the price of an SP2022. $350 buys a great gun, and I would personally go for that over a Ruger P95. I know the P95 has a great track record for reliability, but last few new P95s I looked at in stores looked ROUGH (this was back when my brother was shopping for a 9mm - he ended up getting an SR9). I'm talking rough machining marks and sharp edges all over the slide (especially around the safety/decocker), and magazines that looked like they were assembled by monkeys. Shocking considering that the Ruger SR9 (which I believe is made in the same factory) is a fairly nicely finished gun.

All that said, last year I almost purchased an FNP-9 or FNX-9, but went with a Walther P99AS instead, and haven't regretted it for one second. Back when the FNPs were selling for under $400, they were a great deal, but now that they (and FNX) have crept up in price to the $550 range, I'm not so sure. There are a lot of VERY high quality and well-proven designs (i.e. P99AS) in that price range.

And there are very good designs at the ~$400 range as well that the FNP used to occupy (SP2022 and SR9).

I gotta say that after holding all 3 is was a tougher decision then i first thought.Ended up getting the sig d/t it felt the best for me.Thanks again for everyone's responses.

The FNP-9 does feel pretty good in the hand, doesn't it? Hahaha,

The FNP is just plain the best small caliber handgun I have ever owned, closely tied to the Springfield XD.

I voted for the fnp. I have one and have had zero problems. Comes with 3 mags thats what sold me, nice stainless slide extra back strap. Good looking polymer gun.
