Got a NAA Black Widow

I've tightened up the dovetail sight channels several times by taking the sight out & gently tapping the edge of the sight channel with a small ball peen hammer. Be careful, it doesn't take much to tighten the dovetail.

Interesting to hear that. I just bought an NAA PUG last week and my front sight is loose. Its so loose it can be moved back and forth with my finger. Otherwise extremely happy with the gun. 50 rounds CCI were perfect. No so with some of the Win Super X, but there were good primer strikes so I'm sure its just an ammo issue. They did ignite on the second pull though.

I ran a box of Dynapoints through my Pug yesterday and about 1 out of 5 needed a second strike to set it off. The 45 grain ammo shot the best though. 40 grain ammo shot high and 30 grain ammo was too high to be effective at all.

My Black Widow likes CCI and doesn't like Winchester or Hornady V max. The Hornadys misfire now and then. CCI maxi mag 40 grain is perfect and shoots to point of aim. Benched at 25 yards, I was shooting 3.5" groups. That ain't shabby for such a tiny gun. I carry its .22LR standard little brother as a back up, carry the Black Widow occasionally for a primary when I can't get away with anything bigger. That don't happen very often. When it does, I'm confident in the gun's accuracy and I have as much confidence in the round as any .32ACP, which ain't sayin' much, but .22 mag is puts up right at 100 ft lbs in my gun. All 3 of my NAAs are in folding holster grips.

I carry my .22LR spare in my weak side pocket folded. When I carry the Black Widow, I just drop it muzzle down, grip folded, into a number 4 Blackhawk that normally carries my Taurus 85UL or my Kel Tec P11. Grab the grip and I can have it open and ready on the draw real fast.

Anyone have any good ideas for a pocket holster?

My six and half ounce behemoth is carried in a custom holster.

By that I mean I cut up a plastic pop bottle to spec, folded it over and rapped digital duct tape around it. It was supposed to be an experiment to see what style pocket holster would work best and its worked so well I just keep carrying it.

BTW, it really keeps the hammer protected from accidental cocking, sweat isn't an issue, and its a breeze to clean out. So far its still on the original duct tape and survived four months, many of which were over 100 degrees.

Yeah, pop bottles are sweat proof. Duct tape is cheap.

I am considering a Black widow for a coat pocket woods gun. My question is, the adjustable sights look awfully large and clunky. Do they snag? And are they worth the extra money? I'm more worried about them being a PITA than the extra cash. Too the guys with fixed sights, does the pistol shoot near point of aim? And to the guys with adj sights, are they worth it?

I've never used the BW with the fully adjustable sights, but I would stick with the Novak sights with the rear sight drift adjustable for windage. Like Peakbagger, I had a problem with the Novak rear sight staying in place, so I contacted NAA, and they promptly sent me a replacement with the set screw.

I thought I wanted a Mini Master till I held the Black widow. I'd still like the longer barrel also, but I think this will get used alot more.

I have the NAA Earl with the 3" barrel. It's interesting how that 1" less of barrel makes the BW handier to carry (or, at least, that's the way it feels to me).

I have the 1 5/8"? mini pistol now. I would just put the BW grip on it, but I want the better sights.

The 1 5/8" mini is great for what it is -- an ultimate "deep cover" gun (I have the 1 1/8" in .22 LR), but the BW definitely extends your effective reach, if needed.

My BW will hold about 3.5" at 25 yards fired from a bench rest. Best I can do with my 1 5/8" .22 LR model is about 7" at the same range. Yeah, the sights and the little extra sight radius help a LOT. I do carry the .22 as an also gun, though, because it's more compact. Both have folding grips on 'em.

Is that an adj site, or fixed site?

In case MCgunner doesn't manage to get back here -- he uses the low profile Novak sights (with the drift adjustable rear).

MC was one of the THR forumites who went a long way to convincing me to get my own BW...

Thanks. I'm gonna have one. Just have to decide which. Maybe I'll sell the 1 5/8" to get it sooner.

I have a BW that I carry with the .22WMR cylinder. The last few times to the range I have had the cylinder pin back out and jam up the cylinder. I contacted NAA and said to send it back for a free repair. I planning on sending it back this week.

narco99 -- would your BW have the older push-button cylinder pin, or the newer twist-latch design?

Mine has the push button type. Looking on their website there appears to be a upgrade for the magnum.

I have two of the ''magnum'' black powder companions, but that BW looks sweet. I may have to get in touch with Santa...
