1911 Sig Sauer vs. Sig Sauer P-220

The P250 is a model that can shoot 4 different calibers 9mm, .357sig, .40, and .45acp
The gun is a modular design and caliber conversion kits are less than $300.00, The first gun in whatever caliber you choose is less than $400.00, so you can have a SIG that shoots 4 calibers for the price of a new P220.

I personally find that the Sig 220 and 226 feel the best in my hand bar none. 1911s are a close second. If push comes to shove I'd rather have a 220 over a 1911. Has nothing to do with technical merits. Totally based on the feel in my hand. Having said that, I don't care for the DA first shot pull. You can have the 220 modified by Sig factory to a single action only with a safety so its like the 1911 platform. As with most guns (and things in life), what is better is very subjective. You usually are better off choosing what simply feels best in your hand.

What is the disadvantage of this or downside?

As far as actions go with the P-220 should you choose to do so you can just rack a round on first shot then all trigger pulls will be the same. I like and don't mind the extra pull on D/A because then that enables to keep one round ready at a moments notice just like a revolver pick it up and shoot.

I have the full size, "Made In W. Germany" model. Most people consider it to be the best P220 that was ever made. That's not to say there are problems with the other models. But I doubt I could ever get that sort of accuracy from the compact version. Shorter barrels generally limit accuracy.
Are the new ones made now still made there or are they USA?
I was just curious if you had the compact or full size model which you answered:D
I suspect there is a noticeable performance between the Sig P-220 Compact or Carry vs. the full size model.

st what's that mean? There is also equinox. Too many models i would just get the ones with the tritum night sights.

Stainless.

The ST's had a stainless slide and frame.

Added a bit weight to the gun but is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO incredible!

Sadly they've been discontinued from my understanding.

My 8 round mag is a Novak and my 10 round mag is a ProMag. The Novak works very well but the ProMag doesn't.

ProMags are almost always a problem. My policy with mags for defensive handguns is OEM or MecGar (and I think MecGar is OEM for SIG). I have 6 or 8 10-round SIG-made mags for my West German P220 and they've all been flawless.

Sig is changing their OEM for magazines to Checkmate

For a 8rd magazine for the 220, I can recommend the Act-Mag Magazines...They are the manufacturer for the Novak magazines

I agree I do the same with all guns.

Any disadvantage getting stainless over the standard model on pistol for P-220?

stainless being the lighter of the two= more recoil?

The stainless is actually heavier, so it'll be less recoil. But P220's tend to be mild on recoil anyway.

You're not implying the Sig isn't safe to carry are you? It's safe to carry a round in the chamber IMO. I did it for years and will probably do it again. The hammer can rest in the half cocked position where it can still be fired from a DA pull but it takes a very strong DA pull to make it fire. If you cock the trigger and fire from SA mode you will have a light pull and for second shots etc. the gun will go back to SA mode.

No, I'm not. Read what I wrote one more time, and you'll see it has nothing to do with carrying with a round in the chamber or not. I asked if he liked safeties, which 1911's have, and P220's do not. I don't need an education on how to carry or how P220's work.
