Rifle in handgun caliber?

I have a Winchester Model 92 (new production) in 45 Colt and it's a real slick rifle. A bit over your price range though. I'd look into a Italian repro. They also come in 44 and 357 I belive.

look around for used marlin, they range from the common 357/38, 44mag, 45lc to the more uncommon 44-40, and other cowboy rounds. i would definatly look for used and you should be able to come in under the 500 mark, if your lucky you can come in well under(just got an older used marlin 1894 in 357 for 300otd). good luck.

Lever-action .45 Colt, .357 Mag., or .44 Mag. from Uberti or even Cimarron Firearms are nice.

Earlier in the year I bought a Pair of Marlin 1894 38/357 & 44Mag. They are great rifles specially the 38/357. When I shoot 38spl they feel like a 22mag out of this rifle. Another one I enjoy shooting is the Rossi 45c. If you reload any of these calibers than your options becomes even greater.

It wouldn't take much more than $500 or 600 to build a 9mm AR15. . . Get a $120 complete lower from Surplus Ammo and Arms, and a used 9mm upper for around $400-500. There was an upper listed here in the trading post recently for a fair price, but I don't know if it's still available or not. I saw a complete 9mm AR15 on another forum sell recently for $585+ shipping.

I'd second the hi-point carbines as well, and I definitely recommend getting one in .45ACP if you do get one of those.

You may be able to find a Marlin Camp rifle for close to your price range, but you'd have to do some searching.

I saw one for a little over 6 the other day in my LGS and they are usually high on their prices.

Your price limit is a tad low for new guns. But I will say a .357mag lever gun, either Winchester or Marlin, is a awful lot of fun. That Ruger bolt gun looks like fun too.

There is a big step up in power when going from 6" to 16" barrels.

It's a just bit over budget, but Predator Tactical is making a pump-action carbine in .500 S&W Magnum. That'll wake 'em up at the range! After all, it IS a handgun caliber .

It was 45ACP. I was tempted but his comment about a realistic accuracy range of about 75yds didn't leave me feeling too good about it. Also, I wasn't into the tactical look of it. I keep thinking something like a bolt action, scoped 30-30 or 30-06 looking gun chambered for a 45ACP or 44 magnum.

Why woould a bolt action .45 ACP have any better practical range than a semi .45 ACP carbine?

9mm or .45ACP Marlin Camp Rifle. Look for one of those, pistol calibres go farther than you think, especially with a rifle. Good for the distance you seek, but the 9mm would shoot flatter than the .45 by far.

Even better, if you can find it and I don't know what they go for now (but I'd like one, they are COOL) is the Ruger 10/44. Just like the 10/22 but in .44magnum.

A bolt action in a pistol calibre, a larger one like a .357, .41, or .44, will give you the most accuracy. Try searching for those parameters on Gunbroker and Guns America and see how many different ones come up. I bet there are a lot that are going unmentioned.

Another option might be a .17 Hornet or one of those super high velocity bottleneck rimfire rounds. They run 'em in pistols too. Inexpensive to shoot, comparatively anyway, and you get rifle ballistics. I bet you'll get the best performance accuracy-wise going this route for the money. Like a mini 5.56 at that range I bet.

costs more-but i like my tommy gun (semi:banghead but still a hoot to shoot. many say it's a waste and a pos but i reload and do a lot with 1911's so

i think i'd have to find me a new range

Ruger model 96 went out of production in 2009. They're very accurate but stocks are plain Jane. I own one in 44 MAG.

1) Join DCC instead of MCF&G. Then you can shoot any rifle you want. (almost)
2) Will you be deer hunting with your new rifle?

My preference, if you are a reloader is .45 Colt. If not .44 Mag. For maximum economy, especially if you reload, .357 Magnum.

My favorite would be a Winchester Trapper 16"... but probably not for $500 Maybe a Puma 92.

I have a Hi - Point carbine in 9mm and can consistently shoot groups at 100yards that can be covered with a silver dollar using open sights and a lead sled. Bought the carbine many years ago for $60 at a pawn shop and have never had any problems with it feeding or cycling. Much better results at 50 yards.

got an 1895 marlin 16.5 shorty in 45/70 with matching magnum reaserch bfr 45/70.

I have always wanted a carbine in .44 mag...I would definitely use that as an excuse to get one.

Your overall price of this built you're proposing can be misleading. 9mm uppers are not that cheap plus you forgot to include the magwell which are not cheap.

Glade I could be of some help. I have been contemplating one now in 357 for about 3 months and read up on them at many different sites. they all had good things to say.
