Bump.

I've been without my 336 for 1.5 years. It's in storage on the left coast. Please don't ask why. It's just what had to be.

Things are looking up a bit for me, now, for the first time in a long time. I hope the time is approaching that I'll have it shipped here. This place far up the east coast needs another lever in .30.

I wonder how many 336 are
in the state of Maine.

Wild guess: 10,000 to 30,000.

What about your state?

This thread is still The 336 Club,
at least for now.

But based on trends elsewhere,
that could change.

Love this thread ! took about 2 weeks to sift through it . New member , count me in . Purchased my first lever action gun about 2 months ago ; Marlin 336 , love it . 51 year old eyes have indicated they would like a scope of some type . Great info here . Thanks........

awesome old 336's are still out there. just picked up this 1949 waffle top S.C. with this old vintage redfield peep site. 30-30. i paid a LOT less than a new one goes for. in fact i have 2 glenfields and this new 336 and for all 3 combined i paid less than what a new one goes for.

I have one. Bought it years ago and put a William's aperture sight on it. Gunshop owner said I might have to change out the front site, but all is well. Load of fun and kids love the western look of the lever--- and I am just a big kid myself.

I have a 336 with a straight grip and lever (like a 94), thought it was the Texan model but they have an emblem and was then told by the LGS guy it was a carbine. Wonder how many are out there?

It is a Texan if it has a straight grip, regardless of the words on the barrel stamp, regardless of what your local gun slinger says.

Brockman does great work. He took my 336C and essentially made it a 336Y and added a larger loop for my big hands. Its by far my favorite rifle.

Brockman does great work.

Is he the best option for a chop and recrown?

I need to (hopefully soon) get my 336 shipped out from the west coast to the new home. May as well get that done along the way.

I no longer want a scout scope or ghost rings, but a Skinner.

375 winchester?

I wonder if the hardcore 336ers will let my Marlin 375 in ??
It looks like a 336 but I'm not sure if the action is thicker? longer? or what?

IMO, any and all 336ish Marlins in a caliber beginning with .3 are welcome here.

Tahoe, the Marlin .375 is totally new to me. Wow.

Pics not nec, Cooldude.

Welcome to you both.

the .375 Win was made from 1980 to 83 (in Marlin) @ around 18,000 units;
it is just a 30-30 blown out to a straight case like the .444 or 45-70, it sends
a 200 grain slug @ 2200-2300 fps, I handload it, as it can be pretty spendy.

It groups pretty good 1-3/4" to 2-1/4" @ 100 yds when I do it right!

I was happy with Brockman's results. I sent it off in April and had it back in time for my Oct deer hunt. He's the only one I've used. I set a 45-70 I bought recently off to Lew Bonitz of Grizzly Custom but I haven't gotten it back yet. I just wanted to try someone else so I could compare the two (so when people ask I can compre). The 45-70 had issues and was one of the newer ones made at Remington factory. I didn't feel like going through Rem customer service as I wanted it fixed and I wasnt confident in Remington's abilities.
