1953? Pffft I picked up a 336 in .35 Rem in April for 199$ at Cabelas of all places. SN says made in March 1950 with balard rifling. Too bad shes too ugly to post pics of for now
There are at least 6 in CA.
thought it was the Texan model but they have an emblem and was then told by the LGS guy it was a carbine.
Brockman does great work. He took my 336C and essentially made it a 336Y and added a larger loop for my big hands. Its by far my favorite rifle.awesome old 336's are still out there. just picked up this 1949 waffle top S.C. with this old vintage redfield peep site. 30-30. i paid a LOT less than a new one goes for. in fact i have 2 glenfields and this new 336 and for all 3 combined i paid less than what a new one goes for.
getting ready to ship off an old glenfield 30A to brockmans for a chop and tune
Brockman does great work.
I was happy with Brockman's results. I sent it off in April and had it back in time for my Oct deer hunt. He's the only one I've used. I set a 45-70 I bought recently off to Lew Bonitz of Grizzly Custom but I haven't gotten it back yet. I just wanted to try someone else so I could compare the two (so when people ask I can compre). The 45-70 had issues and was one of the newer ones made at Remington factory. I didn't feel like going through Rem customer service as I wanted it fixed and I wasnt confident in Remington's abilities. Is he the best option for a chop and recrown?
I need to (hopefully soon) get my 336 shipped out from the west coast to the new home. May as well get that done along the way.
I no longer want a scout scope or ghost rings, but a Skinner.
