Run the piss out of it and don't feel guilty. If it shoots, it's fine.


Big things to look for is mag wobble, both side to side and fore and aft. Some wobble is generally acceptable. A lot of wobble is bad. No wobble is ideal.


Check for canted front sight posts and gas block. It's a more common issue, that can easily be fixed by someone that knows how.


Those are the two most common complaints.

Not that I'm aware of. I've heard that some of the poly mags are thicker and fit a bit tighter but if the mag is wobbling it's because the cutout is a bit too big and you can't really fix that. If it functions well then don't worry about it. The WASR 10 is a perfectly reliable and accurate AK (assuming it's been assembled correctly) they just don't tend to have the highest level of fit and finish.

Some is OK. You might have more or less with other magazines, it really just depends on the type of mag.


But a slight wobble is OK. If the mag is rattling around obnoxiously while just generally handling the gun, that's generally too much.

I own one and I had to open up the mag well slot on the sides in order to fit all the different magazines I bought for it (Dremel tool). I have 2 P-mags that came with it and 4steel mags from various countries. Half of the mags wobble side to side slightly with no bad effects.
My gas block and front sight post are straight (which I checked before I bought it).
Other than that, it is surprisingly accurate as it is dead-on at 100 meters and I have not had any FTF or FTE with any of the ammo I shot through it.

Try using Tapco polymer 30rd magazines. They tend to be molded a little large and make for very snug fit in most rifles.

I have a WASR 10 UF straight sights and gas block and very little mag wobble, I can outshoot a arsenal my buddy has with it and it stays within 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 moa ( if I do my part[including ammo choice.]). Not a bad gun for $430. One of the biggest improvements you can make is adding an optic, Mine with a bushnell trs-25 red dot shoots out to 400 with little to no issue.

What kind of mount are you using for the Bushnell?

Ultimak M2-B, seems to work pretty good and didn't even add weight (from my scale) compaired to the standard tube.

Yeah and I've gotten that bushnell too hot to touch, dropped the gun on it and left it on for weeks at a time. Still on the same battery, still holding zero, still running strong. All for under $100, personally I'm very satisfied. Plus with the ultimak I can co-witness and the whole setup only adds 4 oz's to my WASR. Whole gun unloaded is 7 lbs 7.25 oz's.

As far as I can remember I've never had any problems with mine. Sure the com-bloc mags will wobble a bit but I don't like the look of the polymer mags even if they do fit tighter in my rifle.
