i think if I hear "weapon system" or "center mass" one more time i might snap. The show was pretty disappointing but i guess its a good day when you can turn on the TV and watch a gun show. I do like watching stuff blow up so there is that factor even if it is littered with untrue facts.

The AK episode when they showed the FAL as an M14 cracked me up. It also gave me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that i know more about guns and can shoot better than an ex army ranger / para whatever he is. :)

When i was watching it I had to keep reminding myself that it was meant for Joe Schmoe who knows little of firearms. Any opinions anyone would like to share?

It could be worse. When I was growing up, the closest thing to a gun show was watching the A Team. That’s where I learned that No One ever gets shot in a firefight.

Exactly. At least there are gun shows. I just wish there was an accurate non BS one. The comparisons on triggers is the worst part.

I'm tired of the "blowing things up" in general. A grenade doesn't make explosions as big as the discovery channel makes a 9mm "explode."

I liked it. Keep in mind that the average viewer is probably is probably not a gun person. I'm sure that on some forum, someone is saying how unrealistic and inaccurate Pawn Stars is over some detail.

Agreed, and I enjoy the show too. I don't expect TV to do anything other than entertain me when I'm in the mood to lose a few brain cells, or I wouldnt even own one.

As for the host's knowledge of firearms... using this show (or any show, for that matter) as a measure of his knowledge is a gross injustice. He isnt ad-libbing on camera, pulling his lines and/or (mis)information from his own head. Its scripted. He says what he's told to say.

As for his military service record... showing some respect would not be out of line. At the risk of sounding like a jerk or fanboy, realize that earning the title of Army Ranger or Air Force Pararescueman is something the average individual can't even begin to dream of doing. Furthermore, as a Pararescueman, his job had comparatively little to do with firearms, and an immense amount to do with savings lives on the battlefield. The show could be complete crap and the man would still deserve our respect.

There are a few good ones. Really good ones. My favorite is "Impossible Shots" and I like "Stories of the Gun" on one of the NRA shows and the NRA show that covers competitive shooting. I like the SHTF show the least, but it is better than most SHTF stuff I suppose. They come on Wednesdays on the "Outdoor Channel". All shooting shows all day that day. The rest of the week is all about hunting. If you are into shooting AND hunting, you are really missing out if you haven't found this channel.

What channel is triggers on ? I only ever seem to catch the one with Red jacket company

A good drinking game would be to drink a shot every time he says "when I was an Army Ranger and Air Force Pararescueman". Yea...we get it.

I have the utmost respect for those that serve. Myself 5 years in Uncle Sam's Army. But he tends to toot his own horn a lot. He doesn't seem that knowledgeable for someone with that much experience. And he seems uninformed or misinformed on occasion.

Sometimes they start the show talking about one particular firearm and go way out in left field talking about several others. I guess there's only so much you can say about the AK.

add in "weapon system" and "center mass" you would be hammered before one show was over, hahah excellent idea

Some of you guys that did serve and know where to look ,see what you can turn up on him. Info on him is very thin and mostly what he wants someone to see and then reather vague when it is found. He seems to be mainly an actor for the last 7 years with lots of short stays in different branch's of the service before that.

I'm at the point of wanting to break out the video camera and doing some decent videos for YouTube. I'm tired of the drivel.

Watching "Sons of Guns" makes me feel the same way. I watched one episode of "Triggers" and that was enough...it was the 1911 episode where they only talked about the 1911 for 10mins max.

All the new Discovery shows have taught me that EVERYTHING explodes violently when shot. I apparently have been doing it the wrong way.

I Like Gun Stories... Hope they get a few more seasons out of that one. Shooting USA and Impossible shots too, at least when it's not Reruns.

The gunny and I may not be on the same side on the political scheme of things but he always struck me as the kind of guy to discuss things over cigars and a beer after doing some group therapy at the range.

I really hope to have a discussion with him some day over cigars and beers after putting a bunch of lead downrange. :)

Triggers is definitely not so bad. Having watching a few more episodes after the AK one, I've decided to stay on board for three reasons. I ws trying to find some reason to keep watching it, because I wanted to like it. I jus twish that they would stop with the <insert elite cache name here> qualification.

Firstly, It is hilarious when they get things wrong as if they were suffering from a critical research failure. They said M-14 and then gave a picture of an FAL! Then there was the part where they were talking about how iron sights are terrible. Lastly, the AK guys were buffoons, though I did catch the accidental German. 'Ess Tea Gay Fear-undfearzig', which is "STG-Vierundvierzig", which means "STG-44". If your brain has an off switch, or just a laugh it off mode, then you're perfectly fine.

Secondly, I legitimately enjoy the sections where they are shooting. I like the candid shots without special effects as well as the genuinely nice displays sometimes. However, even to somebody who has never received professional military or tactical training, the AK guys were unbelievably bad. Seriously, I was better trained than that when I was 13 and had just gotten through playing Gears of War for the first time.

Thirdly, it is a show about guns. Do I even need an excuse?

I liked the episode where the explained the Thompson submachine gun and BAR (god, what a monster!). No doubt there’s more ‘entertainment’ than information.
