I actually know some soldiers that got into a little trouble recently for providing copies of their ID to Oakley's US Standard Issue site. I know the odds of a CMP employee cloning an ID are low but he might want to send them a DD-214 or some other proof instead.

I think he's good to go. Have him send in a packet with a yellow sticky on it. I've found they're very good about yellow stickies. If you put a simple request on it, they'll almost always answer (i.e. I wrote, "I'm looking to get into shooting matches, so could I please get a nice barrel?").

I always use the yellow sticky to fine-tune my order. It's never failed. As long as you keep it simple, it'll probably work. They're cool.

The law forbids duplication of a military ID. Photocopying is not duplication. This has been officially clarified several times and the article linked is several years old.
