.327 Guns Dirt Cheap

It's a shame that the caliber/ammo availability is limited and has an apparent 'dubious' future in general as the .327 Mag revolvers are experiencing a 'fire-sale' if you will.

Anyone thought about picking one of these up (those of you that have yet to that is)?

Perhaps everything is subjective in nature but I have been looking for a 'snubbie' for a while now and at CDNN I see a 2" Six Shot Taurus .327 Mag Revolver (Blue) for $219 which 'for me' is dirt cheap when I look at the ballistic performance of this round (I could see it maybe in .38 but even then...).

I am a semi guy and by no means a revolver expert but does that seem extremely reasonable to you as well for a brand new magnum revolver?

CDNN has had good prices on a variety of Taurus products. There is a lot of discussion about Taurus quality control being especially bad lately, which may have something to do with it.

If you can find a nice deal on a .327 Ruger let us know...

Edited to add: You know those nice new Ruger SP101 .22s, with the fiber optic front sight, the new, nicer adjustable rear sight, and the sweet-looking wooden inserts on the grips? That's the one I want in .327. Three inch barrel please.

I have no problem with Taurus (don't want to make this a Taurus thread either) so that's not an issue for me. For those of you that prefer a different vendor, shop around and see if you find the .327's far less expensive relatively speaking as opposed to .357's or even .38's. Just an observation I have been seeing and was curious if others had as well.

*Edited to add that I am a BIG fan of Ruger (specifically I have been looking at the SP100 line) but they're too rich for my blood at this point (I have a bit of spare change coming via my tax return). The last Ruger handgun I purchased was the P95 which is what I refer to as my tank-like 9mm--great gun that I bought on sale many years ago (I still see these very modestly priced even today as I guess they are promoting their new SR line). I honestly think I could run over my P95 with my Jeep absent any worries (but I won't:eek:).

I looked into a .327 magnum revolver. But I'm a semi auto 9mm guy, and I really don't feel like stocking another caliber. I like revolvers, just haven't made the leap yet.

Likewise, I do not have a revolver and have been shopping around for one just for an addition to my modest collection. That is when I started seeing what I considered were some relatively cheap entry-price level points in .327 magnum.

I still may go the .357 route as I can shoot .38's as well for range use and still have the magnum power for SD/HD or even CCW depending on the model.

Looks like a great deal for someone getting into it, not already invested in 357 Mag and
38 Special. As a reloader, I tend to AVOID getting in to new calibers as to not have to acquire more brass etc. Ballistics on 327 seem purdy good.
 
327 sounds like a great caliber but you better be ready to spend some $$$ on the ammo.
I have priced and checked on ammo and the reloading componets.
I am a reloader but even reloading will a chore with this caliber because of the limeted avalablity of the componets.
I am not putting caliber down because I to would like to have one but have not made the commitment yet because of the ammo issues.
I will say that the ballistics are impressive.
However with that said if you are a reloader there is nothing that you can not duplicate in a 357 caliber gun.
With a 357 you can create the same ballisticsas as a 327 in the 357 or 38 special if you want to slow it down to 32 mag ballistics.
My 2 cents.

BINGO! It seems I am always running across good deals in calibers I don't currently own. I love reloading but I don't want to add another caliber to it.

The .327 is interesting though.
 
I used to have 7 .38`s & .357`s combined, now sense the .327 Fed. Mag. came out, I have 1 .357 Mag. & 2 .327 Mag`s...............
 
That $219 is a dirt cheap price :what:!! I already have the Taurus gun in 32 H&R and it has been treating me very well.

I may have to buy a couple of these to put away. I do think the cartridge is going to end up being primarily for reloaders, but that is not so bad.
 
Love the .32 calibers for revolvers.

I own two Taurus 327s, a Ruger GP-100, and a 3 inch barrel SP-101 in .327 Federal.

Also own several H&R and NEF .32 H&R magnum revolvers.

These guns compliment each other and the versatility of the .32s is a good selling point.

Need something that has some power for defense, but kicks less than a .357 magnum?
The .327 Federal can do that.

Need a slightly less powerful rounds for general purpose use,fun gun, defense for a recoil sensitive shooter,teach a new shooter? The .32 H&R magnum can do those. 85gr.-100gr. rounds to choose from. Not a powerhouse, but still has to be respected for what it can do.

Need something even less powered that is fun to shoot, user friendly, and a good teaching gun/caliber combo? The .32 S&W Long gets the nod.

Even www.buffalobore.com has come out with .32 H&R magnum and .327 Federal magnum defense rounds. If the market wasn't there they wouldn't have bothered making ammo for the two calibers.

I have nothing against Taurus because the revolvers I've owned have worked well. With one exception I've stuck to blued carbon steel models with unported barrels, and that may have something to do with it.

I also like the .327 Magnum cartridge - at least in theory. I'm a .32 fan from way back. But I have little use for a 40,000 PSI round in a small to mid-frame snubby. What I would like (and am unlikely to get) is a K-frame sized platform with a barrel length between 4 and 5 inches.

Still, at the going prices I am thinking...
 
I just picked up a 632, 3" j-frame NIB for $499. Added 500 rnds of Fed/AE 85gr sp for around $210/delivered. Now if the wind would die down I could go shoot this thing...
