NRA dinner without the wife?

I haven't been to one yet, but there is one coming up soon and I think it would be fun to go. My better half said to go with my shooting buddy.

Are there usually more couples, or do lots of men leave their wives home and go stag?
 
Last one I was at in South Texas there were tables full of hairy legged men and very few women to be seen. Probably a 20 to one ratio like India or China?
 
I'd be quite upset if my DH went to a Friends of the NRA dinner without me, but if your wife said to then why not?

I went to one without my DH (escorted by my oldest son), one time when our life circumstances warranted it.

The ones I've been to had a lot of couples and a lot of families, but also a lot of guys with their friends. The important thing isn't who you you go with, its that you go. :)

Even is America (still?) many fellows feel their wives are their best friends and companion; they tend to do everything together....just different life styles for different folks.
 
I've been to a dozen or so, some with and some without my wife. I find it is easier to put the raffle tickets where they are supposed to go when she is not there. And I never had to spend my money on ridiculous auction items. Without her I could concentrate on the guns!!!
 
The one I go to in Columbia, MO (the orginal Friends of the NRA banquet started by Larry Potterfield of MidwayUSA), is mostly a couples' event but there are still plenty of lone guys there. Last year I went with a male hunting buddy. Next weekend, I am taking my wife.
 
Up here, Northern NY, it goes both ways. Let me rephrase that. There are lots of couples and lots of guy's tables too. I would like to see a ladies table some year. Any and all are welcome. Any way you come, its a great time. Your wife would have a great time too if she decided to attend.

I have only been to three over the years with my father in law and had never noticed seeing any women at them.I just figured it was a guys night out.They were all at the Days Inn in Butler P.A.,always a good time.
 
Here it's mostly couples. There's lots of fun stuff for the women to bid on.

We have a "Rose Raffle", where we sell four dozen roses with raffle tickets at $20 each. The winner gets a Ladysmith. My oldest daughter won that one several years ago.

I can't imagine going to one of those without my wife. Then again, we're one of those rare couples who actually like each other.
