Everyones Thoughts On Tula Primers

I bought 1000 large pistol Tula primers a while ago. So far, they all have gone bang. Think I have a couple hundred left.

Tula LP/LR/SR/.223 primers have been 100% reliable for me.

Tula SP primers (silver colored cups) however have been giving me ignition issues (possibly due to cup hardness IMO).

I have some and they art good to go. If there is any truth to it I understand that both Wolf and Tula are made at the same factory so I think that they basically are the same. They certainly act the same in the loads I develop anyway.

After 25,000 Tula/Wolf primers in the last four years, never a problem---have not had one bad primer in all of my guns.

I agree, I haved used Wolf and tula and have had no issues at least 500 of each....

Same as the above. I also use the Wolf shogun 209s and they perform flawlessly in my waterfowl loads as well.

I have shot a lot of Wolf LPP and Tulammo SPP. Nary a hitch with 2.5k Wolff LPP.

I had 1 bad 1k batch out of 5 with the Tulammo SPP. Had about 4 duds in a revolver and 5 more duds between two of my Glocks.

I've only used 800 Wolf .223, and I've had 2 failures. Could be my rifle needs regular small rifle primers.

I should note I've never had a failure to ignite with US made primers. I've used about 40/60 US vs Russian, so far in my reloading career. I've switched back to domestic, since the Wolfs are getting harder to find, and the Tulammo aren't much cheaper than domestic. For 1k primers, I used to pay 15.50 for Wolf vs 30.00 for domestics. Now it's 20.00 vs 25.00. I'd rather have the peace of mind over half a cent savings per round. Not to mention that 9 failures = 9 bullets, powder, primers, and brass I lose, since I'm too lazy to pull a random dud.

If you're getting a really good deal, I wonder if it might be a suspect lot! 10k awesome primers that could be sprinkled with a few duds kinda spoils the score. It would take a long time to use up on plinking ammo.

They've been 99% reliable for me. I'll buy more when I run out.

Tula are my favorite primers. I have several Wofe also but have yet to open them.

Is the great deal a online retail or do you just have a chance to get a few? Can you share the great find?

Wow. The Tulammo SPP have been 99.82% reliable for me. And that's enough for me to steer clear.

It's going to be a little while before my existing Tulammo-primered ammo is all used up, and it's going to bug me until they're all gone.

I bought 10k about this time last year and have no complaints. I'm gonna order 10k more this week.

I have good luck with the tula sp primers with only few failure to fires that fired on the second strike (not seated properly). I ordered some more sp as well as some sr and lp that arrived today. Once I get some more 45 swc casted and my hornady case prep trio arrives for 223, I will try the lp and sr.

I haven't used Tula primers, but I have just used over 1000 of the ones I recently ordered from PV. I know that isn't many, but so far I haven't had any failures with them. For the price I love them. The only thing I do notice is that the Wolf primers are a little more snug when seating them. Not sure if Tula is the same in that regard.

I have fired a few thousand of the spp. They all went bang. I bought 25k of them and 25k of wolf lpp. I dont think that they are any different than the Rem or Win I used before. I dont notice any difference except that they seat a little tighter which I'm ok with I know they are not going to fall out like some Rem primers I loaded in some 38 cases not to long ago.

While I'm sure Wolf and Tula primers are just fine i would much rather use primers that are made here. I use mostly CCI and Winchester primers and when you buy bulk they don't cost much more than the Russian primers.

I got a brick of 5000 small pistol a year or so ago. They were all far harder to seat than the CCI I had used before or the Winchester I'm using now. Of the 5000 a few (10-15?) failed to go bang even after repeated strikes from a firing pin.

Given those attributes I've switched off them. It might just be me though. The CCI and Winchester have all (~20-25K) went off the way I would expect.

Maybe more like 99.5%. I've had 3-4 duds out of 1k. Makes for good training. I just rack the slide and keep shooting.
