Dillon primer tubes for Hornady LnL?

Dillon primer pick-up tubes will work fine in any Hornady press.

Yep, i hated the included Hornady ones that came with mine, picked up some Dillion ones and they are MUCH better. Sometimes it takes a little wiggling to get the primers to drop into the press since the design is different, but works just fine

I have a Dillon press as well as the LNL and never used the Hornaday P/U tubes. The Dillon just work better.

I had a set of SP Dillon tubes that the plastic ends were not right. They would dump the primers back out once the tube got to just over 1/2 full, what a mess they made. Just as a word of caution. Dillon replaced the ends once I called them. I have had the end/last primer flip form time to time. This is due to excess space the way they mold the plastic. The original ones had brass rings to give it more tension than just the plastic. You will need to center the tube over since these are smaller dia than Hornady's.

Personally I was disappointed with the quality of Dillon. Hornady's are a better quality tube, but require a lot more force to load.

Personally I like using the Dillon tubes on the LNL AP better than the Hornady tubes. Just a little wiggle and primers drop right in.

Isn't Dillon always better?

I don't even use the Hornady primer tubes since I purchased the 550b. They pick up the primers easier because the tips are softer then the Hornady.

But I do like their primer pick up tubes better than Hornady's.

2 years ago I also bought a set of large and small Dillon tubes for my LNL. It came with extra plastic pieces for both ends. After looking at them a bit, I modified the Hornady tubes by by driving out the plastic ends and slipping on the Dillon's pickup ends. Looking at them now, I would just nock off the clear plastic (or blue) drop end of the Dillon's and drill a through hole directly into the tube for the clip. This way it will self center automatically.

As I was typing this, I decided to try out the above mod. Getting the drop end off the Dillon tube proved challenging, I finally "warmed" it with a plumbers torch and it came right off, destroyed of course. A hair dryer wasn't hot enough but a heat gun probably is, but I don't have one. I'm sure there is a better method. I drilled a 5/64 hole about .150 from the end. The hole in the Hornady tube is roughly 3/32 but it was missing from my index. No matter, the 5/64 works fine. I filled the small primer tube with 100 federal sp's. Once pushed out of the tip, there is room for about 3 or 4 more primers. Then I filled it with 100 rifle primers. Less left over room but it took the whole box. Oh yeah, no more wiggling on the LNL.

<edit>Another thought. It would be a whole lot easier to slip a short piece of vinyl tubing (a bushing) over the Dillon drop end for centering. I don't have any vinyl tubing handy but next time I go to lowes or home depot I'll check it out.</edit>

Amen brother. My Hornady Primer Pickup tubes haven't been used since I picked up 4 of each size in Dillon.

Anytime I can use Dillon over something else I will.
