Secret Service to interview Ted Nugent - NRA speech

As they should. Passion and emotion are not the same thing and it looks like Ted let emotion take control of him during that statement. Probably a good lesson for all of us in that letting our emotions control an argument only detracts from what we’re trying to accomplish.

As obnoxious as he is, we really can't let him just hit the ground. If he goes down, the NRA and gun owners in general are going to suffer a huge wave of blows from the Liberal media and the Left.

No matter how much you dislike him, you don't leave a soldier from your team behind...

The NRA should immediately remove him from their board of directors. The man does nothing but add to negative stereotypes against gun people and hunters. He's nothing but an inbred hillbilly who says whatever he can to try and remain revlevant.

The Secret Service will investigate, as they should, any perceived threat to POTUS. They will find that there is no threat from the NUGE and move on.

I for one happen to agree with his message but agree that he could have gotten the message across in a bit more subtle manner. I don't advocate PC but I also understand that there are many ways to get a message across. I would say that there are many ways to skin a cat but that would probably offend cat lovers.

Yes we can, we should distance ourselves from radicals and the statement he has recently made IS radical. If you want to go down with him, be my guest, the gun community at large should shun him based on his statements unless he redacts them immediately.

I suppose the Secret Service is a shinnig example of an organization who routinely demostrates prudent and sensable actions and holds its self to very high standards.

Hmm, I guess we should have left the Founding Fathers out to dry with their radical ideas of a free world...

Don't get me wrong. I am in no way saying it's alright to talk about killing the POTUS, but calling someone radical is largely subjective.

The Revolutionary war was fought on a radical idea
The Civil war was fought on a radical idea (AND IT WASN'T SLAVERY!)
The World Wars were fought over radical ideas (Communism, Facism, and short people that wanted to take over the world)

You all know he is a draft dodger. Makes me sick he calls him self a "warrior". If he wants we can give him ptsd

Is your expectation that this post be taken seriously?

In the year 2012, speaking about killing the POTUS IS radical. Stop trying to dilute the issue.

jail nugent

Remove him from the NRA board of directors. I hope the Secret Service jails him.

Making a veiled threat to the office of POTUS is not only stupid, its illegal. I don't care who is sitting in the chair.

As a disabled Vet, I have zero respect for Nugent. Nugent feigned mental illness to avoid military service. Myself, and others either volunteered, or took the oath when drafted. Some didn't come back, or came back broken.

Personally, I could not understand why the NRA had embraced him. I wrote the NRA asking they remove him from the board for conduct unbecoming.

Threating others with firearms will get one removed from THR website. Why this ass-hat is beloved by conservatives, and hunters is beyond my level of comprehension.

Put him in jail.

I take Ranger seriously and he's not diluting the issue. Lumping the threat with all radicals is not a reason to attack radicals. On the other side, you think Patrick Henry or George W. didn't occasionally wish the King would appear in their sights?

besides which, from the quotes I've read, Nuge never directly threatened the President....any inferences drawn are just that...interpretations by biased individuals.

While I don't think that was a very smart thing to say it's certainly nothing worth gossiping about.

I'm just pointing out that if it wasn't for radical people/ideas, the world would be a very different place.

Now to redeem myself here because it seems I'm not being taken the right way, I don't like Nugent, I don't think he should be on the NRA board, and I think he does more harm than good. The only thing is the second he disappears from the NRA board, the media is going to have a field day. That's it!

Louis Farrakhan has threatened the safety of the President several times if he doesn't "take care of his race" but I guess he isn't a threat. I think I may be too radical for this group from the comments posted so far. THe name of this organization probably should be changed to the PCRoad.

Elaborate. I hope I am misunderstanding you and that you aren't being politics into an issue which clearly is not about that.

This post sums up the issue wonderfully. I agree 100%.

I see where you're coming from, I just don't think it's a comparison which has relevance here. The founding fathers had soldiers living in their homes, times were different then and from the King's point of view, they were radicals, yes.

It Is the veryfirst thing I thought when I read the quotes. Sometimes you find your friends needing to be a little less... them.

Some people confuse free spech and the responsibility for what's said. Yeah, you can say whatever you like, but expect to be held accountable for it.

...Personally, I could not understand why the NRA had embraced him...
The NRA thinks that any positive statements about firearms instantly labels that person as a great spokesman for them. That's a very shallow qualification... It's similar to Romney saying a few complementry words about firearms, and instantly the NRA is bowing at his feet.

It's the character of the speaker, not just their words.

I didn't equate what Ted said as a death threat, even a veiled one. Maybe his delivery is bad but I took him as saying he, or anyone, with a contrary view to the administration will either be dead or in jail. Very 1984ish.
