I'm trying to decide on a new concealed carry gun and I've run in to a small problem. I really wanted to buy a S&W M&P 357c, except they apparently stopped making those a few months ago. So now I'm stuck trying to make a decision between three options:

1. Try and find one anyway
2. Buy and M&P 40c and put a .357 Sig barrel in it
3. Buy a Glock 33 and modify it so it has the features I liked on the M&P

All of these options have pros and cons but I can't quite decide which might work best. So I thought I'd let my fellow highroaders offer me some input. Please vote for the option you think sounds best and let me know in the comments if you have any experience with any of the above and what you think of it.

go with 9mm

I have the M&P9c and it works great. I have owned several small .40 S&W guns and I have sold them every time. They generate quite a bit of muzzle flip in the shorter barrels. Note that I am not recoil sensitive as I also am prone to carrying my Colt Defender in .45 ACP.

If it were me, of the choices listed, i would go with the 40, and then get a 357 barrel as well as a 9 mm barrel

Makes it very flexible

And....by buying an American made product you have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to keep VITAL manufacturing jobs in the USA.

Another option would be to go with the 45 compact. (that was the choice i made)

The corbon dpx +P 45 round has very similar ballistics to the 357

The 45 is VERYcomfortably carried IWB in a Crossbreed

Dean1818 has the right idea. Get the m&p 40 and the 357 & 9mm barrels and you've got the 40 for home defense, 357 for personal defense (CC) and the 9 for range time.

Well it looks like so far option two is out in front a bit. I appreciate all the comments I've gotten so far.

@Dean1818: I'm pretty sure I'm going .357 sig on this one but I would be interested if you could link me any data you have on that load.

This will give you the most time working on a consistent manual of arms.

I think it's pretty clear that the OP would like something in .357 sig. That said I think the 40 cal version would offer the most versatility and options down the road for switching calibers if you change your wants/needs.
