I just purchased a Browning Buchmark Camper 22 pistol. It has the fiber optic front sight and the adjustable rear sight. What is a good range (feet, yards) to sight in this weapon. My old 64 year old eyes aren't what they used to be, so I was just curious what distance other shooters are using and what size targets. Tks, Ron

I'm 60 and my eyes ain't great. I sight in most handguns at 25 and test them at 50 so I know where they hit at extended ranges. My .357 Blackhawk is sighted for 100 yards with one load and hits dead on at 50 with another of my fave hunting loads. Just sorta worked out that way. My scoped Contender with .30-30 barrel is sighted in at 200, 3" high at 100. My scoped Ruger Mark 2 shoots on at 25 and 50, great since it's a squirrel gun.

Kinda depends on the use of the gun. General defense gun or plinker like your Buckmark, I go for a 25 yard sight in.

I will typically start at 10 yards with a good solid rest. Any small bore target will work as long as you can get a good view of the sights against the target. The "Shoot-n-See" targets I have don't work too well since they are all black and it is hard to see black sights against a black target.

If you go to this site:

You can print out a variety of well designed targets for free that will suit your needs. BTW, I'm 62 and can relate to the eyesight issue.
