We were in Walmart today so the wife could pick up some canning supplies to make homemade strawberry jam (hope to eat some tonight), and they had the 100 round packs of 9mm for $20/box. So now I have an extra 1000 rounds for plinking.

That seems a pretty decent price.

That is a good price!

I have been stocking up myself since this is an election year. I don't want to have to go through that again!

MMMMM! Homemade strawberry jam.

They also have store specific limits, the one nearest my house is 6 box limit, the one closest to work has a 3 or 4 box limit depending on the calibers.

Not really because when you go to one there will be empty space where ammo boxes should be. That also extends to .380 and .45ACP offerings. The "empty space" seems to be status quo.

That price is inline with what I pay here in VA for .9mm 100 packs. Today I actually decided I would wear a .9mm to a BBQ so I could let a who is interested take a look. I pulled it out of the safe and realized I'm fresh out of .9mm, even FMJ. I can't remember the last time i was out. Looks like a trip to Wally world is in order.

The local Wal-mart had NO 9mm last time I took a peek at their shelves.

I may be wrong but it seems most Walmarts are on some sort of ordering system for most ammo that only fills the shelf in the display case and when the checkout registers show that is sold it reorders enough to fill the shelf again rather than order sufficent inventory to keep in stock but would require a clerk to find the extra stock from the backroom or wherever and then stock the shelf again. Now my LGS has pallets and pallets of ammo on display with some pretty decent case prices. My Cabelas also has a ton of ammo on hand but prices have gone up a bit especially on 9MM and .223

I have not bought any ammo at Walmart in quite a while but either buy at my LGS or order online and have it delivered to my front doorstep. Very high sales tax (around 10 percent) where I live makes shipping costs a money saver.

Reloading tends to be around 1/2 (or less) the cost of factory plinking ammo. I reload 147 grain plated 9mm for approximately $9.00-$10.00 per 100 rounds depending on how you want to calculate the brass cost.

That is still an excellent price for WWB 9mm, but even at that price I would still reload, it's all part of the hobby/sport/experience for me.

I bought about the same last time I as at WM...have them for $21/100 rds. locally where I'm at.

Now that Federal went up to $24/100 rds. WWB is my go-to choice for the range

They are $22 by me. Always in stock at the three that I frequent. But I can reload jacketed rounds for $7 cheaper per box. Cast bullets and they're practically free.

My Wal-Mart sells those for $23.95 or so... Still the best deal I've found. However, the Wal-Mart I go to ocassionally in Michigan has them for $21.95 and also has 100 round boxes of Federal .40sw for $23.95 or so. That's definitely the best I've ever seen for .40! Their pricing seems to be different at every store, for whatever reason... But their 9mm and .40sw is always the cheapest I can find without buying in bulk online.

Did I wander into the reloading/bragging section?

I buy ammo when it's on sale, too. While packing up for a range trip yesterday morning, I was looking for what's left of my 3 cases of Swiss Geco 9mm and I found two fat 50 ammo cans full of WWB. I love buying stuff on sale and half the time I forget about it while I'm shooting up the older purchases. Oh well. I found two ammo cans of Georgia Arms .45, too. You see, there's this dusty maid's room in the basement with stuff piled in it.

Speaking of saving money, my recent spare time has been spent burning 100 years of paint off of eight shutters. I came within four inches of filling an old metal trash can with paint chips. With primer and the first top coat on, they're looking good. I won't even mention the quotes I got from contractors. They obviously didn't want the job. ;)

I've noticed in my area 9mm starting to become more and more scarce. (al la 2008-2009) My WalMart, when they have 9mm at all, usually has TulAmmo on the shelf. Rarely WWB anymore and never Remington Green and White box. My local farm store that typically has 10 or more different 9mm offerings has had a sign on its shelf "No 9mm in stock" for several weeks now. My last local hope, Dick's sporting goods, has had the aluminium cased Blazer at $10.99/box for a while. Who knows how long that will last. Palmetto State Armory's website had free shipping recently with decent prices on a wide variety of 9mm so I stocked up a little. Let the hoarding begin :cuss:

I have tons of WWB...but I prefer Federal Champions in 9mm! If anyone finds that stuff for 20 a 100...I am in. I bought 1000 for 11.50 (per 50 round box...so 23 for 100)at my local shop...they are sold out!

Bought 100 rd.s .45 auto WWB for $36 at Walmart yesterday. That's about as cheap as I see decent quality .45 ammo. Think I'll go back and get more.

I received a gift card for $50 yesterday to Academy Sports and will stop on the way home from work to see what I can buy in the way of either 9mm or 380 in either the WWB 100 pack or possibly the UMC version of the same.
Will edit the price later,IF it's in stock.

Local one had ONE 50 pack at $12.97. No one around to help me. If you page for help they will have to go up front to get the key. It ain't worth the wait. I noticed their prices on other stuff I buy isn't really cheaper then local supermarket. No fanks to Walmart.

This sounds exactly like the ammo section at my WalMart.... This is no B.S....I'm so tired of looking for someone to open the case that I now routinely go to the register right next to the ammo, pickup the phone, dial zero, the store operator answers, and I proceed to state that I need assistance getting ammo and no one is around...can you please send someone... Minute later, someone is there.

Now if I can only figure out how to dial up the PA system...I'll ask that way too.

That is my go-to practice ammo. It buns clean, and doesn't "spit" back at me like blazzer and other cheapo ammo does. And, if you get the box that just has the loose rounds without the trays, count, ther are probably 101 rounds in the box. I have counted every box, and they always have an extra round in them...BONUS!
