Does anyone have experience with these classes and Kevin Sadeski?

Very affordable and offered close to me, but I'm concerned about a section posted on their website that says:

"Out of State License Training

For Ohio residents, out of state licenses should be a supplement and not a replacement to your Ohio license. Florida or other state license courses do not result in an Ohio concealed carry license. From the course you receive a license from another state, like Florida. The training is specific to that state's laws, and not Ohio's."

Everything else indicates that I would qualify for the Ohio CC license, but I'm worried that the above is saying I would only be legal with their qualifications as long as Ohio recognizes Florida reciprocity?

I did just send an email to ask them.

.... and maybe this belongs in Legal (sorry).

Why wouldn't you just find someone who teaches the Ohio CCW classes? I'm not very familiar with Ohio so I could be missing something.

Well, that's what I'm missing too. Are they teaching according to the Ohio CCW regulations or are they teaching for Florida??? The website, when that section I posted is included, seems a bit unclear.... Are they teaching for Ohio and you would qualify for a Florida license too, or is it the other way around?

That's really strange. I'd definitely ask the people offering the course, and perhaps call an attorney even. Illegally carrying a handgun isn't worth the small cost of an attorney!

Looking at their site, I'm not sure I understand your confusion. (http://www.armed2defend.com/)

Their training is specifically FOR the Ohio carry permit. They do everything to help you get your OHIO permit.

Their training also happens to cover the requirements to get your Florida permit.

Their note on out-of-state permits is saying that you should not get a Florida permit instead of your Ohio permit. Some folks, in some states, find it easier to get an out of state permit than their own state's credential. Or they want to get another state's because that state (like FL) is recognized/reciprocated by a lot more states than their own permit is. They're saying that an Ohio resident should not ONLY get FL, but should make sure s/he has the Ohio one first.

Sam - I made a classic error and failed to even check the site, instead I just took his word for it and assumed he was reporting accurately. That sounds more correct that the original post.

I'm just being careful Sam, thank you ! Like I said, everything else on the website makes it clear that it's for Ohio but the section I posted made me do a mental "doubletake" and ask "what?". I can easily see how they would be stipulating the Florida qualification since there are so many "Florida Birds" who are from Ohio. It just made me take pause.

I have no first hand experience with them, but a couple of the folks I shoot with have first hand experience with them and nothing bad to say about them.
Probably another good avenue to get done what you want to get done.

Once you take an Ohio class, it will probably be a little clearer to you. Ohio is missing reciprocity with quite a few states that Florida has so a lot of Ohio CCW classes have a lot of info on the Florida permit to help people be legal in as many states as possible. When I took mine, the instructors spent some of the time talking about out of state permits and had all the paperwork (for an additional fee) for the Florida permit. Apparently, whatever Florida requires for an out of state permit, you can get from an Ohio class. I do not have a Florida permit so I can't tell you specifically what they require.

Sam pretty much nailed it. I have an OH CCW. However, if I wanted to carry while visiting Grandma in PA I could not with my OH permit. Therefore I would need a non-resident permit from FL or UT (for example) in order to be legal. Same goes if I wanted to carry while visiting my friend in TX.

I have taken the Armed2Defend class. I highly recommend this class to anyone. Your taking this class for Ohio and have the option to get a Flordia packet, it covers more States. Kevin and the other instructor are amazing and will answer and explain anything to you. Ken Hanson comes in and teaches a 2hr law portion of the class.
