I am planning on buying a 1 ounce Lee Keyed Slug mould to cast slugs for my rifled Mossberg 500. I have searched online for reviews, load data and general information on the Lee slug and just cant seem to find the info i'm looking for. Can i use cheddite or Rio hull's? What would be the best wad to use? Should i lube the slugs? What is this i've heard about putting a 20ga. felt or card "cookie" under the slug in the wad? What kind of accuracy can i expect at 50 and 100 yards? I thirst for knowledge!

in my rem870 rifled chock i get about 4-6" at 100 yards. I believe its 49 gns of bluedot, but dont trust me on that. Winchester white wad, federal primer, topgun hulls. nothing else. only use pure lead, or the mold will stick badly. that load gives a chrono speed of 1690, kicks hard.

oh yeah, it comes with more load data too, so that would answer your other questions

Lee 12 ga. Key drive slug
12 Ga 1 OZ Lee Key Drive Slug in 2 3/4" Win AA hull
Data 1999 Each- Case $.070 Slug $.064 Primer $.02438 Powder HS-6 $.0846 Wad $.019 Total for 1 round- $.26198 Or 26 cents. Add the cost of the mould. Plumbers lead was $1lb. Accuracy @ 100yds 7" average. Gun- Mossberg 500 cantilever rifled , scope on 7 power. Lee load data used.Powder HS-6 36gr. Win AA 2 3/4" Win 209 primer. Win. Wad 12f114 No wad pressure when seating. Slug 1 OZ weight 423gr. More load data is available on Lee's website. I had tried other wads/loading, this was the best of 3. One thing i noticed, the reloaded hulls were more accurate after fire formed to the chamber. The average groups would have been better if not for a flyer (not me) ever now and then when the wad would rip.

I use Win AA hull, 35 grains of Herco, Claybuster's WAA-R wad, 1/2 of a 20g shot card, the slug and a nice star crimp. I can usually hit soda cans at 60 yards with it thru my 18.5" mossberg 500 with a modified choke :) Not too much kick, NO signs of overpressure and still gets the job done. I may try to hollowpoint it a little and take it out this winter and try it broadside on a deer.

If your still reading this, yes open sights, probably capable of better, but im not that good. This is using a remington rifled choke.
