xd 45 vs??

I haven't shot the .45 version, but I thought the m&p .40 was an amazing pistol. The reset was just a little annoying. Felt better in the hand to me than glock or xd.

I had one and sold it bc of a injury to my right arm and elbow. I needed considerably less recoil. I loved ir though. Very accurate and its 13+1.

I wouldn't really say "better". There are a lot of handguns in the same size, price range, and style (polymer-frame striker-fired) that are quality handguns. It more boils down to what fits you the best and what features you like.

I have an XD45 Tactical (5" barrel) that I use as an HD pistol. I CCW 1911s, and this pistol was the closest feel to a 1911 in a higher capacity .45 with rail for anywhere close to the price. I love mine, very accurate and easy to shoot.

I had an XD45. For me it was OK but a little more recoil than I wanted. I sold it and got a Stoeger (Beretta) Cougar in .45. It has a little more weight I believe, and a beefier grip area to spread out the recoil along with a rotating barrel. I'm happier with the Cougar than I was the XD. These can be had new for about $450. It's really a Beretta so it's a real bargain.

I have a 5" version. I have also owned a standard and a M version.

The 5" is my favorite. Never any problems and is reasonably accurate.

Have you had a chance to shoot the XD yet? I had one for a while, I really liked it but I found other pistols I liked even more so I got rid of it. The grip was fine, capacity very nice, the trigger not bad but it just wasn't what I wanted. The only problem I ever had with the XD was that it was ammo sensitive. With 230 grain ball ammo it was great but I had been given a few boxes of 185 grain FMJ that would not feed. I never shot it with HP as I don't carry and don't feel the need to spend extra ammo on them, so others can comment on their reliability but mine did not like the 185 stuff.

I had one of the original XD 45s, I really liked that gun... but then I like all XDs.

I am not big guy so there was no way I was going to cc it. For an HD pistol I think feel it filled the bill nicely but I sold it to get a smaller XD40sc, these days I feel even that's to big for ccing too.

The XD-45 basically competes against 2 other pistols, which are the G21 and the M&P .45

My preferences are

1st: M&P
2nd: G21
Distant 3rd: XD

It's not that there's anything wrong with it, per se. There's just not really anything I like about it. But if you like it better than the rest, then go for it. It should serve you well.

I have 2 XD45's, both 4" and one a Compact. I love these guns, they shoot very well for me and don't have failures. Go ahead and get one!

I had the XD 45 compact and never had any problems what so ever with it. The XD shot everything i fed it and never missed a beat. It was an accurate pistol and the recoil was very tolerable for me. I wanted something smaller and lighter that would be easier to conceal so i sold the XD. If your set on the XD model i don't think you'll regret getting one, it's a very nice handgun.

XD45 service here. Never a failure of any kind with any ammo. It's my favorite handgun. In the future I'd like to aquire an HK45c tho.

I'd put the Glock 1st, but agree with this. I've owned all 3 and after owning the XD wouldn't go back. I like the Glock better, but the M&P has some strong points I like.

The grip angle is a non-issue. If anything once mastered it does offer some real advantages.

Another option you might consider if you want a traditionl DA/SA gun in light weight plasic with 15+1 capacity is the FNP.

I love mine. The heft handles recoil and makes it easy to shoot straight. I recommend it.

That answers it right there. Having owned XDs I'll say they are nice guns. I prefer the Glock 30.

I've rented the XD in 9,40 and 45 on several occasions, my very first handgun purchase was an XDM45, and I currently own an XDM9 and XDM45 compact, so I'm fairly versed in the platform. in my opinion the XDMs are a huge step up from the XDs but since the XDM45 uses the same mags as the XD45 which gives them the same ammo capacity the differences in that particular chambering are a bit more negligible. the XD45 does have issues with semi-waddcutter ammo but unless you are a home loader that casts your own bullets, your odds of ever using it are pretty slim. the XDM fixed the SWC feeding issues so that is the major advantage that they hold. other than that I see no real flaws with the XD design. the XDM has longer sight radius, less blocky design and better grip textures so I still tend to favor the M factor when it comes to 45ACP. with all that said, I would still rather own an XD45 over an FNP45, glock 21, M&P45, beretta PX4, USP45, or sig...uh.. whatever their 45 models are, and if ruger ever releases an SR45, I would still take the XD45 over it.

people are free to knock them all they want, at the end of the day I know that they are just better for my purposes than any other gun.

I've nothing against Glocks, but the 21 just didn't feel right in my hand. It shot everything I put into it just fine, but it felt awkward to me.

I sold it off, and eventually bought an XD45. It fits my hand much better, and I shoot better with it.

Everybody is different, and their hands are as well. The XD fits me better.

I've never shot an M&P yet, but a friend has one I'll probably shoot in the near future.

I'm quite interested in the new XDS

I don't know if you've looked at them, or are willing to spend more money, but FNP-45's are great polymer guns. I can't believe the accuracy.

I have a 5" equipped with a TLR-1 for HD. I carry a 4" equipped with a LaserMax on my tractor. I bought my wife a XD 9mm Sub Compact for a house gun. It's the same size as the S&W Mod. 10-5 she was using except she has 13 +1 opposed to 6 rds. Yes I'm a XD fan.

I have an XD45 tactical. LOVE IT. The grip angle is perfect. I have used many varieties of ammo, even some really cheap stuff, and its functioned flawlessly, and has been accurate even with the cheap stuff. Extremely accurate with winchester white box JHP. I would not trade this gun in for anything. I would buy others, but this gun will always be my go to gun. I took it out to a farm once and was shooting an 8" gong at 50 yards off hand. Hitting it about 75% of the time. I have total faith in this weapon.
