Howe Boot Knife

Very interesting knife. Any info on the maker?

the knife was given to me by my late grandfather with a cracked stag handle and a break in the tang. eventually the handle broke as did the bottom portion of the tang for the rivet. I made the grips out of aluminum and made the brass ring and guard and fitted them to the blade. its been a great knife and if i just hung it up he would'nt like that so i use the crap out of it and it holds and edge very well and the handle is very comfortable. the blade i beleive is and old, old timer fixed blade or sharade.

Very nice, I like your work, I'm sure your grandfather would be proud of what you've done with his old knife.

There's a lot more to my collection, but I didn't feel like rooting around in the basement pulling out boxes.

Oh, I should note that of all my weapons, only one has ever been used in self-defense, my Cold Steel Voyager XLC folder.

A freaked-out crack-head broke into my home and assaulted me repeatedly, almost causing my elderly father a heart attack in the process. Having lost my cane in his first attack, when I was thrown up against the kitchen counter, I just grabbed whatever was handy, which turned out to be my Voyager. One quick, sharp jabbing motion at his hand and the freak backed off and ran out of the house. (He later tried to have me arrested, but instead the cops charged him with B&E, 3 counts of assault and 1 count of reckless endangerment for endangering my father, who was by then a Veterans Affairs-designated "frail veteran.")

As for why the Voyager was in the kitchen in the first place, I was dissatisfied with what we had for cutting/sliving food, so I was using it to make my sandwiches; it was very keen and sliced my meat and cheese very well.)

First, that's gorgeous.

Second, may I ask why your home-defense go-to isn't a firearm? Don't get me wrong, I love my Benchmade.

JShirley, I agree with you on the atr, I have never used it. I don't remember how much I paid, but it was on sale at gpknives. It is a smooth opener though.

Bowie Knives....My small collection has grown. Always fascinated with large blades (over 8"), I've come to the realization that my fav is the bowie and all adaptions of it.

This one has a 9.9" blade, 16" overall length. It's a BEAST! It's handle is made of brass, walnut burl, and Giraffe Bone. Simply gorgeous!


This one, is 14.40" long and the blade is 9". It's handle is made of brass, steel, Camel Bone, and Water Buffalo horn.
