Hey everyone, I am in the North Shore in Massachusetts, the worst state for gun ownership IMO and I just bought a new gun. I picked up a Glock 36 for my summer carry and I absolutely love it. I have no idea why this gun gets so much hate, but I am in love with it. I have a 1st Gen 17 and had zero problems with it and wanted a .45 ACP Glock and chose the 36. This gun is like gold in the state of MA and I will never let this gun go. I took a picture for you all to enjoy. I don't want to start a G36 vs. G30 thread, just tell me what you think of the G36 and if you have one, tell me how you like it.

I can't stop staring at that bore. It's like a trash can tilted up and pointing at me.

all i carry is my glock 36 never had any problems.
i could carry my g27 or g23 or others, but my choice is the 36. the only thing i did to
it was put on night sights. the 36 just feels right and i dont need to walks around with
a bunch of high capacity mags, im not going into a firefight and the 45 will stop
most threats.
 
I just sold a Glock 31 chambered in .357 S&W. They 357 S&W is a peppy load but recoil slowed my rate of fire down to revolver speed. In the future I will have to think long and hard before buying a semi auto chambered for a cartridge larger than 9mm. The gun was easy to sell. I paid $400 for it new. I got $400 for it used. If I had pushed harder I might have got $450 for it.
 
I also just recently purchased a Glock 36. I added a pearce +0 extention and it fits my hand like a glove. It conceals well, balances well and is very accurate. As for recoil, it isn't bad at all to me even with one handed shooting. The 36 has quickly become my favorite handgun.
 
My Glock 36 is one of my favorite handguns. It is a very accurate shooter and I find it easier and friendlier to shoot than small autoloaders like the Ruger LCP and Ruger LC9.

My favorite ammo in my 36 at this point is 200 grain JHP of the few brands I've tried. It shoots to point of aim. Actually, all the usual 230 grain FMJ shoots to point of aim, too. :cool:

The G36 started a nice trend toward slim and extra lightweight .45 ACP. For that I'm grateful. The only thing I don't like about it is that it looks just like its brothers. I've had a PM45 for a couple years and saw and held a nice XDS the other day. I'm glad Glock got the ball rolling - and if I had to have one the G36 would be it.
 
If I weren't so happy with the slight edge that 11 rounds of 10mm gives me over the .45, I'd give up my Glock 29 for the Glock 36. I had one, and it was flawless to the point of almost boring. Accurate, reliable, but I just migrated to the 10mm for the power and penetration advantage.
 
I like mine. Folks don't understand a Glock with 6 shots, I get that sometime. Mine doesn't miss a beat. Feeds all manner of ammo except some Spanish, er, French surplus I picked up. But it's aggravating in everything. Enjoy it and shoot it often. Get a couple extra mags, too.
 
I've got a older Glock 21 that I bought new and its one of my favorite shooters, if just a tad large for CCW most of the time. I'd dearly love to add a G36 to my collection for CCW, as it looks about perfect to me. ;)
 
I carried a 23 for years before switching to the 36. I find the 36 more concealable. I do carry an extra mag .

Yeah me too, I just bought the Pearce +0 to add that finger groove to fit my grip better. I love the gun so far and it looks like many others do as well.

I took it to the range on Thursday and it was my first time shooting a 45 ACP. It wasn't as bad of a recoil as I thought. I'm sure a 1911 would be a breeze after shooting the Glock 36. I am in love with this gun and will use it as my summer carry. I was holding it next to my SR9c and realized that the G36 has a thinner grip and fits way better in my hand because of the finger grooves. I still love my SR9c and am a huge Ruger fan.

The G-31 is chambered in .357 SIG, not S&W (tho Glock calls it .357 Auto)

The .357 S&W is the venerable .357 S&W Magnum, tho the Smith and Wesson part has been forgotten by most.

Now, the G22, 23, 24, 27 and 35 are all chambered for the .40 S&W, but again Glock changed the proper name and instead calls it the .40 Auto.

Not really. If you can hide one, you can hide the other. It really comes down to if you prefer 6+1 of .45 acp, or 13+1 of .40 in essentially the same size platform.

Yep, it all depends on what works the best for you. Here in MA, we can only have 10 round mags unless they are pre-98 which are hard to find for .40 and the Glock 36 was a better fit for me. The G23 is a little bigger than the 36 but has less recoil (obviously) and fits some larger hands better. I am going to the range soon to put more rounds through my G36.
 
congrats on the new 36. i also bought one recently - about two weeks ago. I love the slim profile of the 36.

i also was wary of the "bad press" the 36 had early on. unfortunately for me, i been getting a lot of FTEs. i came back from the range this morning and had 8 FTEs after 50 rounds.

btw i just left MA about a month ago. "weapons" laws can be ridiculous. i mean, why must you need a FID/license to carry pepper spray?
