Which 10MM Semi Auto Should I buy?

Why .38 Super.. Just get a 9x25 Dillon barrel. It's a necked down 10mm. Doubletap makes ammo. 125gr at almost 2000 fps is a bit more than any .38 Super!

Oh, and I have a Glock 20 in 10mm.

The Tanfoglios are notorious for mag issues, and the 1911s are all low production guns with widely different tuning.

IMO the Glock and the S&W are the only platforms with long-term viability, the Glock probably has the edge due to being current production.

Just joined the 10mm club with a Glock 20 gen4.

I have a witness in 9mm and considered getting a 10mm slide for it (but I found out that there are two witness frames and the 10mm slide didn't fit mine). I went with the Glock 29sf. I love it. The 29 fits my hand better than the 20, and the polymer frame really tames the heavy 10mm loads. (I use buffalo bore JHC, its my hiking gun). It can also accepted the larger mags from the 20, so If I want 15+ I can, in an easy package.

I have never regretted buying it. (Its the only pistol I bought new and it was well worth the money).

The only 10mm Auto I would trust in the long run with full power loads are the S&W and the Glock 20....I'm not a fan of Glock (or any striker fired polymer pistol) and the poligonal rifling of the Glock can be a problem with hard cast bullets (yes you can change the barrel though...)


That said, it leaves the S&W...I did buy a 1006 and I did never look back...

If you already have a G17 then the G20 is will be the best choice. Everything you know about your G17 you will know about your new 10mm glock

I have found that hand size plays an important role in finding a 10mm. I have medium sized hands (at least according to Mechanics Gloves) and the double stack 10mm's are too large for my hand (haven't tried the Glock 20 Gen4 yet). I do not have this problem with the smaller framed Glocks such as the 17.

So for me, a 1911 frame worked the best. I have installed a Sprinco recoil reducer (the short version) on both of my 1911's in 10mm (a Delta and a Dan Wesson). My daily CCW gun is the Delta. That said, I'd love a Glock 20 if it fit my hand better as an outdoors gun.

The 10mm is a great cartridge for handloading!

Glock with Short Frame (marked SF) works fine for those with medium sized hands.

I have two EAA 10's so that is saying something. Also have a 10mm Razorback and all are exceptional. Never cared for Glocks.

Smith or Glock are the only 2 realistic options and Smiths are getting hard to find and expensive.

The Glock is the lightest, has the least felt recoil, the most mag capacity, and will shoot right with any of the others accuracy wise. The Glock and Smith are the only 2 platforms proven reliable in 10mm. Some 1911's work fine, others not so much.

I didn't vote since I've only shot one of the choices (the new production Delta Elite that I own). I like, and very much recommend the Delta, but know not how it compares with the others.

Plus I have the 40S&W, 357sig, And the 9x25dillon barrels.
which makes it a very versetile weapon only thing beware the 9x25 is very LOUD....

The witness all the way. The ones you will here dog it are the ones that have never actually shot it. They will just tell you I herd this or I herd that. It is a great gun and I will be getting more. Just last night I missed out on a witness .45 with a .22 conversion for under $500 new :banghead:

I won't vote because the only one on my wish list is the Delta Elite. Only one I have experience with is a S&W.

The K2 is only available in .45ACP. The Match is really the best option.

Yes it is a drop in barrel solution!

Nice thing is the drop in barrel is stainless so you can identify which round to stick in the mags (10mm mags work for both rounds just fine, like the .40&W and .357 Sig.)

I'd be down with the 1911, but all those listed are solid pieces.

Witness Hunter - big beefy massive pistol which makes the 10mm manageable. Long barrel and long sight radius... accurate and good for hunting.

I have the plain old witness steel full size in wonderfinish. I love it! getting close to 1000 rounds down it now and I have had no problems with it at all. I got it new for just over $400 about 3 months ago. So $350 used with no warranty is not that good of a deal IMO. The one thing I do do with it though is up the spring to a 20lb as it comes with a 14-16 lb spring and that is to light IMO. The spring was like $10. I also carry it for CCW, finding a holster that I like for it was a pain but they are out there.

I own both a Gen2 Glock 20 and a Smith 1006. The G20 is my favorite for several reasons, but not by much. Mainly I favor the 20 over the 1006 because it's a current production model.

Both the G20 and the 1006 are more than adequate to handled even the most potent ammunition both safe max level hand loads and the more powerful factory stuff such as Buffalo Bore.

Given I've owned these guns since the early '90s, I've put thousands of rounds through each with about 2,000 rounds per year each being about average. Both guns are still in excellent condition and still shoot wonderfully well.

They were. They changed the design and the manufacturer (I believe they are now all made by MecGar) and the mag issues have generally been resolved. I've got 4 mags, including one with a Gram (sp?) follower that doesn't have anti-tilt legs, and they all run very reliably.

The bigger issue I encountered was finding the correct weight of recoil spring for my 10mm Match. It'll some with a 12- or 14-pounder (can't recall which), just like the 9mm; brass will achieve geosynchronous orbit, and the slide and frame will violently collide at the end of the stroke. I went to a 20lb spring, but occasionally got jams. Dropped to an 18lb spring and have hundreds of rounds through mine without a problem since.

Also, if you get an adjustable sight model (particularly the model of rear sight found on the Match), I would advise using loctite on the windage adjustment screw; it's notorious for slipping/stripping under recoil, which disassembles the entire rear sight and loses a tiny spring and screw.
