Well, basically what the thread title says. I bought a used CZ-75B about 4 yeas ago and as you can see from my signature, I've put quite a few rounds downrange and it's been completely trouble-free. However, I've been bitten by the 45 bug (again) and frankly, I just don't have use for two full size 9mm pistols. The CZ is ONLY a range gun, and I've always said that I don't do range-only guns. Also, I don't really care for the CZ's manual safety OR DA/SA transition, and my love for my Glocks is well-documented.

Thoughts?

The peanut gallery is gonna gasp and say DON'T DO IT. But honestly if it doesn't float your boat, why not sell and get something you really want?

Word of caution. Be sure to rent/borrow the potential candidate before doing so. I've made that mistake too many times, going on what people recommend.

Thanks Chris! Yeah, I've shot the snot out of the XDm 3.8 in 9mm and 40 S&W and the XDm 4.5 in 45 ACP so I know I like the platform. I prefer Glocks for 9mm, but I'm gonna hve to rent a Glock 30 (I believe the 30 is their compact .45) and see if the "fatness" that everybody bitches about for Glock 45's is true, as I've never shot a Glock 45.

Go for it my friend
My love of CZ's is well documented, I got 3, but if it is not for you, it is not for you.
Tastes and desire change.
I got 2 1911"s I really like and one was funded by selling one of my beloved Ruger security sixes. dont regret it a bit.
Lifes too short, follow your gut and be happy.
Good luck.

I'm a big Tanfoglio/CZ fan, but I agree. If you're not really into it anymore, then sell it and move on. Me, I don't have any 1911's anymore for the same reason (though not because it is antiquated - how absurd is that concept!). I wouldn't sell it for the risk of seller's remorse, but, then, I did sell a Sistema Colt...though I kinda wish I still had it.

Thanks for the positive feedback, guys. Yeah, I've gotten a lot of use out of my CZ, but at this point I'm just not into it anymore. I have two pistols which fill the role of "Service Sized 9mm" and one of them is my beloved Glock 17, which ain't going nowhere.

The minute you sell that CZ you will regret it. Save up for the .45.

I don't think you'll find the Glock 30 to have any "fatness" worth b------- about. The G30 is 1.28 inches thick. The XDM45 is 1.25 inches thick. Heck, even the Glock 26 is 1.18 inches thick.

Yeah, I know, that's the way it always goes, right? However, I've bought and sold quite a few pistols in the 8 years I've been shooting and the ONLY one that I REALLY wish I had back is an XD-45 Tactical that I got rid of a few years ago.

Yeah, I'm really gonna have to side by side the G30 and the XDm 45 Compact and see which one I like better. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Glock trigger and pretty much know what it's gonna do, but I also like the XD trigger and the way the compact feels in my hand. We'll see.

Ive heard this a lot...
I think it largely depends on your finances and whether you want to devote more resources into a firearms collection. Saving up an extra $500 may take a couple weeks for some people and it may take half a year for others. Some people may not mind having many thousands of dollars tied up in a gun collection, while for others that may not be a wise move. It really just all depends on your individual situation - I wouldn't go so far as to say you should never sell/trade a gun to fund another purchase.

If you're not into the CZ any more, and it sounds like you're not, switch it up. A base 75B is not going to be difficult to find in the future, if you end up regretting your decision.

If you are willing to own a pistol as ugly as that Springfield item, I think your CZ will be better off with someone with a better sense of aesthetics and more wisdom. :D

Also, the XD or whatever they call that thing has a grip safety. Miss depressing that just once at the wrong time, and you may wish that you'd carried the CZ that day.

But you like Glocks... I'm clearly not the guy you need to be asking for advice. Our sense of beauty in firearms is obviously not on the same page of the gun book.

Your money, your choice. But someone else's gain when he buys your CZ.
Of course, my opinion is worth what you paid for it, but this advice may help someone else reach the right decision in his case. That's why I took the time to respond.

May you be happy with whatever road you travel on this one.

The heart wants what the heart wants. You should have little problem turning your CZ into $$$.

Never cared for the CZ75. It was heavy and quite unsuitable for someone with medium palm and not long fingers (even at half-cock position). Mine was from late 70s so perhaps newer ones are more smaller hand friendly. I would switch to plastic framed piece too.

I probably wouldn't sell a gun I liked to buy a gun I might like.

Ha ha, good point. That's why I'm going to rent the XDm 45 Compact before I sell/buy anything. However, in the past year I've shot the XDm 3.8 inch in both 9mm and 40 cal and LOVED them, much more than I like shooting my CZ-75 after over 5K rounds. I even dug the 40 cal and I generally hate that round.

So we'll see.

What do you want for your compact, and are you willing to ship? I might be able to make this decision really easy for you.

I own a CZ75B and two XDM 4.5" pistols (.40S&W and 9mm Luger) and I can say that in my opinion, the pistols you listed are both amazing guns.

I personally prefer my CZ75B slightly because:

1. CZ75B trigger is better IMO.

2. For me, the CZ75B is more accurate.

3. Steel frame soaks up much more recoil. Firing quickly is much easier for me.

I can relate to the idea of keeping things simple, and asking if you need two guns to do the same job. Between it and the Glock I say it's entirely a matter of preference. I say, get hands on the .45, get it now, and then give it some time to see if you just kind of lose interest in the CZ.

I like certain guns, but I try not to be sentimental about inanimate objects.

I sold my CZ75B once, and bought a new one after 2 years.

The XDs looks like a fine gun. I have carried a Glock 36 in .45 cal 6+1 for many years and am very comfortable shooting it. I felt the XDs in my hands a week ago and was ready to sell the Glock for it. But practicalilty told me that I didn't need to replace, I would think, my pefect carry.

I don't think you will regret the XDs. I love the fornt "glow" sights and the grip safety.

????, The CZ 75B is not a compact. But what are you asking for it??

Jim

Oh yeah, I just realized that. The XD is the compact.

- what do you want for that full size 75B and are you willing to ship to my FFL? PM me and I'll make you a better deal than the gun store would.
