Sure, why not. Compact 45's aren't for everyone.

No wait! I also have a Glock 36 and has been my carry for many years. I don't shoot 230gr from that small gun. It will just hurt. I reload and shoot 165gr bullets regularly and comfortably. My self defense ammo is the Hornady Critical Defense in 165gr. Try shooting the G36 with 165 gr ammo. You might feel the difference. Good luck.

I know recoil is subjective, but i found the g36 to be pretty mild. Anyway you already have an sr9c - no sense getting another 9 in the same size. Get a G17 if you really must. Youll be happy with the accuracy. Or just work on your grip - it does make a difference.

Never had any problems wih my G36 except hollow points with big holes in the end of the bullet. I use the Hornady CD ammo because of that. My G19 shoots great with most everything. I say sell the sr9c and get a G19 instead. You can use the same holster for both the G19 and G36 so you save money there too. Face it, the G36 is a .45 so it is going to burp a little more than a G19. Same manual of arms for both guns.

Get a G26. I love mine.

Look at the new springfield XDS

It has a very manageable recoil. A lot better then the 36.

I used to carry a Kahr CW45. I didn't mind the recoil too much, but my wife hated it. I had some trust issues with the gun, so I sold it to fund my first 1911.

If you're not comfortable with your compact 45, I would most certainly recommend you trade it for a G19. The 19 is one of my favorite Glocks, with the perfect balance of capacity, size and firepower.

2 things.
1) Work on your grip and stance, and see if you can conquer the recoil.
2) Get a G26. If you need something the size of a 19, you can always throw a 19 mag in and use a grip insert/spacer. But if you have a 19 and need something smaller, well... You'll need a dremel, sandpaper, and overnight yourself a 26 mag.

I would look into Lone Wolf G36 extended barrel with two ports instead of trading perfectly good gun away. Quite honestly I much prefer to pull trigger on my G29 (180grs @1000fps) instead of the LCP.

You might want to try a box of 185 XTPs. They make a noticeable difference recoil for me, and shoot very well.
But don’t let it stop you from picking up a new Glock.

If you are not confident you can handle the Glock 36 with one hand after being hit with a pool cue I would dump it. Usually when someone breaks a pool cue over your head the next move is to stab you with the sharp remainder.

For some weird reason, the recoil seems to be less if I also shoot my 1911 and my G36 with one hand.

Other than the .40s, G36s are the only Glocks that I wouldn't own. I don't like the paucity of mag capacity and lack of higher-cap backup mags, but I also just don't like the feel of the G36.

Before I settled on a G30, I tried out a G36 and I didn't care for it. My G30 feels like it was carved to fit my hands.

Not a fan of the G36 myself. I like that it is a relatively thin single-stack .45 and I even like that it doesn't have an accessory rail up front, but Glock really messed up when they were designing the grip and magazine. The curve of the back strap is totally awkward and nowhere near as natural feeling as a 19/23 or 26/27. The hump being at the very bottom is just weird. The magazine sticking out as much as it does for a pseudo 3-finger grip is dumb too. Had they gone with a slimmer version of the sub-compact 26/27 grip or the 19/23 grip, they would have had a real winner on their hands.

I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of it. That's all I'm saying.

I have both the G19 and G36 as carry guns. I wouldn't part with either one of them for anything (but that is just my opinion).

The lack of capacity with the G36 doesn't bother me, I prefer the compactness of a single stacker in .45 acp. It holds two more rounds than either my LCR or 442 and they are just fine as carry revolvers.

If you don't care for the recoil of the 36 don't buy the Glock 23 in 40. Stick with the 9mm either the 19, 26 or 17 all three are great pistols. I prefer the 19 it's a good size, not too small and not too big. In fact the 36 and 19 are just about the same size, so any holsters you might have purchased should fit. Plus ammo is much cheaper.
